Yesterday saw the clash of the Yu-Gi-Oh! decks. Paul beat me (twice) and I beat Sarah (twice). However, at least some of those matches were won based on how typical the starting hand was (ie. the "wot no monsters ?" problem). My "Labyrinth Wall" deck did quite well, but I'm still not convinced I have the balance of magic cards right. Additionally Paul and I finally concluded the "Cocoon of Evolution" swap, only a few months after first discussing it.

Today, I was busy working on the (late) Fallen Star turn when I realised that Ryan had actually got past the current baby barrier (no wonder it was quiet). A quick investigation revealed him in the bathroom, playing with the bleach. Fortunately, the "child-proof" lid actually was - so there was no harm done.

Since R&B are the product of two avid gamers, we can assume that at some stage of cognizance they'll be into games as well. Setting your sights on what sorts you want to introduce to them first? (beyond the current bout of inflatable plastic hammers to try to knock things down with I imagine)

I don't really know - when it comes to first games. I will probably read the boxes and stuff and make a choice from whatever is offered for the early years.

As far as roleplaying stuff goes, I plan to make an early start with bedtime stories. Produce some interactive ones (eg. "And what do you think Tarth of the Blade should do next ?" !) and take it from there.

Sounds good! You'll know that phase is complete when you get a 'But Mum, Tarth would use his Mace of Smashing +3!!!' :-)

Actually, what did it for me (to me?) was my father reading me some particularly vivid/graphic Arthurian books ... much 'pummeling of helms' and Lancelot's random slaughters (we knew that whole monastic thing wouldn't hold). Not bad really for a post-chivalric-influenced version.
