I did a Google search, and apparently real bayberry candles use wax that comes from the bayberry bush, which is native over here, and they are a colonial tradition for Christmas. I did not know that. I thought it was just a pretty smelling candle. But that would explain why you mightn't have run into them before.
There's a radio commercial for a store that sells "Yankee Candles" (a big name brand of candles over here) that starts off listing all these scents that are named after food, like Vanilla Cookie, and then asks, "Getting hungry?" before saying that they are all varieties of candles you can buy at their store.
Colony brand are in most department stores (think Bentalls, House of Fraser, that sort of thing) and they do a mistletoe and pine tealight set that's very Christmassy.
As an alternative go to Pier- they always have several christmas-type theme candles - I've used their "freshly baked" candle before and I know they also have a cranberry one and some kind of scary green thing.
