Three cottages in the Isle of Wight (Farmhouse, Coachhouse and Stablehouse) plus twenty roleplayers.

I've never been to the Isle of Wight before, so was keen to have a look around. It was rather hillier than I'd expected, a little colder (although we were consistently told that the weather was unexpectedly chilly for the time of year) and rather pretty. I personally prefer a bit more up and down to my scenery, but as I was in games every day of the week that really didn't matter.

Shadow Run - Sunday's game started well, but I'll give a proper review when [livejournal.com profile] onebyone runs the second half.

People of the Sun - This was [livejournal.com profile] leathellin and [livejournal.com profile] hearthfire's Ancient Egyptian game with a little magic added (other players : [livejournal.com profile] bateleur, [livejournal.com profile] cardinalsin, [livejournal.com profile] metame and David). The details of day to day life were historically authentic (OK, I wouldn't know, but it came across that way!) and I thought that the subtle ritual magic was a lovely touch. The story was an interesting one, and my baby brother ([livejournal.com profile] metame) becomes Somebody (but I won't spoiler too much in case they plan to re-run). I really enjoyed it, although it appears that my fiance (David) doesn't like assertive women (specifically, women who fight back when their baby brother is attacked).

3.14 Nanometres - It's tricky to find things to say about the game without spoilering it. This being a real problem because [livejournal.com profile] frax and [livejournal.com profile] cardinalsin plan to run it again in London and it's a plot-heavy game so spoilers are a real issue. I think I'll stick with saying I thoroughly recommended it to anyone (even Sci Fi haters) and loved my party (played by [livejournal.com profile] triskellian, [livejournal.com profile] al_fruitbat and [livejournal.com profile] onebyone) very much.

Eleventh Hour - This was [livejournal.com profile] bateleur and my Warhammer 40K game which (unsurprisingly) included a huge amount of combat. Our heroic (and much suffering) party were (power-wielding) sanctioned psyker [livejournal.com profile] frax, (secret psyker/not quite a Tech Priest) researcher/scout [livejournal.com profile] zandev, (loyal bastard son of a Judge) mercenary [livejournal.com profile] cardinalsin, (dodgy Eldar ally) trader David, (put-upon) Imperial Lieutenant Commander [livejournal.com profile] smiorgan and (sole surviving) Marine Captain [livejournal.com profile] ao_lai. A combination of good calls (mainly from [livejournal.com profile] smiorgan and [livejournal.com profile] ao_lai), crucial dice roles (on the first day from [livejournal.com profile] ao_lai and at the end from [livejournal.com profile] cardinalsin not least because he didn't kill [livejournal.com profile] smiorgan) and a displacer cannon (from David) led the team to destroying the Warp Gate (technically taken out using crack grenades) thus saving spacestation Hiemalis Alpha and defeating the Tyranid (with added Mind Flayer) army. We thoroughly enjoyed GMing it. They even all survived.

Non-roleplaying included:
* wandering around the haunted Appuldurcombe House/Ruin (sadly, no ghosts)
* extremely belated birthday celebrations ([livejournal.com profile] ealuscerwen and [livejournal.com profile] al_fruitbat's)
* Dr Who (The Long Game - which I liked)
* watching SoulCalibur II and Super Bust-A-Move
* discussing Barry Hughart's Bridge of Birds (which everyone liked or loved in varying degrees)
* Pink (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] secondhand_rick)
* flambé pancake (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] hearthfire)
* the house "pet" (we had a mouse. Really.)
* an excellent meal at The Pond Cafe (I had Crisp fried Confit Pork Belly, Grilled Scotch Beef Fillet and Assiette of Chocolate)
* Have I Got News For You
* Dissing the downstairs bathroom in Farmhouse
* Waving twin pictures at unsuspecting roleplayers
