Tie Oromendez (ie. the seven of us) began the session feeling pretty optimistic (or, at least, I did). We needed a magical demon-basher of some description, but we had ways and means of making one. But, this minor requirement aside, we had our spy pot (see previous write-up), our Fourth-killer (Sable - [livejournal.com profile] frax), an army to act as a diversion (lead by a dubious Weapon-infected general, but Weapon is currently on our side and so this was counted as a plus), a safe place to stay and plenty of money. By the end of the session we lost all of these (with the possible exception of the money, but Imogen - I - did not care about that).

We started off by faffing about a bit.

Andreas ([livejournal.com profile] onebyone) and Imogen travelled to Tie Godeah to send a message to Judge Uikay requesting information on the whereabouts of the Fourth (aka the Traitor of the Cross). She returned a terse message saying that their spy reports were out of date, but it was likely te be within the Parliament of Prime.

Next, Sable and Andreas travelled to the Parliament of Prime and were pleased to see security was low. Probably because the army were fighting in Esselring.

Whilst they were gone, Imogen and Katako ([livejournal.com profile] triskellian) investigated Tie Akate (where our safe house is was). Imogen discovered that her tutor (Gumabdu) had died from a sickness, but that her father (Briden) was still alive and well. He explained that the Tie was prospering. It was still under the influence of the School of Secrets, but not overtly. On a more positive note, Judge Malgie was still in charge.

Meanwhile Sigurne was continuing to use the spy pot and found a very interesting room with an even more interesting occupant. The room looked like the council chamber of the Parliament, but smaller, emptier and with water damage. The occupant looked like an ordinary man, but both Sigurne and Ghol believed he was a powerful creature with Image blood. There was much speculation about who and where and the resulting, tentative theory was that he was a prisoner of the Fourth in a room either under the council chamber or on the Moon.

Next the three Moon Sorcerers (Katako, Ghol - [livejournal.com profile] smiorgan, and Imogen) went to the Moon to see what Parliament was represented by there. In place of the buildings of Parliament (three Ties - Merechus, Serenes, Ganastros) was a gigantic hole. Ghol questioned the Oracles and we discovered that the hole had been created by the Lords of Tointier (four of them) earlier in the year with their sorcerers. This was how they had attacked the Parliament of Prime.

On return to the safe house a plan of action was formed. Sable would use a metal nenstaff inscribed with Sigurne's runes as her demon-basher (thus removing the need for a forge or the time required for Ghol to make/improve a weapon). The army would be called in to attack Parliament whilst our group would head directly to the main building sending Sable alone (by which we meant he would not set eyes on the rest of us and thus be unable to magically control us) to face the Fourth.

The main consequence of this was that Sable, Imogen, Andreas, Katako and the Squire (also [livejournal.com profile] smiorgan) set off to Tie Ondu to speak with Voaz on the subject of orders for the army. The unfortunate side-effect was that this left Sigurne (and Ghol) in the safe house trying out one of Sigurne's experiments.

The meeting with Voaz was a success whilst the experiment worked with disastrous consequences.

Sigurne had opened a portal from the safe house to the Walled Stone. As the Walled Stone is the Big Bad controlling the Fourth, this was not a good thing. Ghol and Sigurne were fortunate to escape still in control of their lives (although minus some fate points). When the rest of the group returned all the packs were salvaged (including the one containing the Sacred - but incredibly irritating - Skull of the Sages of the Unity and the one containing the Ghost Hammer) along with some of the money. However, our safe house was now extremely unsafe.

We ran away. This was fairly easy. The Walled Stone did send forces after us but, with its main army over in Esselring, they were a bunch of almost-non-combatants. On the minus side, there were a few hundred of them, but we had Katako and her Moon Maze spell so we escaped.

We went to Tie Ondu. We finalised our attack plan. Sigurne put some runes on Sable's nenstaff. Imogen sulked about the lack of safe house (it had been her grandfather Oromendez's legacy to Sable and herself) and everyone prepared.

The morning of the attack :
We went to the Parliament - as planned.
The army turned up - as planned.
The army started to fight - as planned.
The general turned into a ten foot demon - this wasn't planned, but he was on our side so we were OK about it.
We got into the main building - as planned.
We got lost - minor hiccup.
We found a servant to take us to the main chambers - now back on track.
We met the Primus, threatened him and he told us where to find the Fourth - hurrah !

Then it all went horribly wrong :
The Fourth turned out to be the prisoner with Image blood and Sable did not initially recognise him.
The Fourth turned into a nasty big demon (little deal) with six attacks per round (big deal).
The Walled Stone / Fourth turned out not to need line-of-sight for its evil mind control power and Katako, Sigurne and Imogen were all taken over (although a miracle of focus-failing meant that Ghol escaped this).
Katako and Imogen ganged up on Ghol (although did not hurt him).
Sigurne released all the runes on Sable's demon-basher (although, arguably, she needed something bigger to kill the Fourth with anyhow).
The Fourth's army suddenly teleported in (from the Merechus sphere) and started to defend against our army. Even they seemed put-off by our demon-general, though.
The Squire was taken over by Weapon and followed Sable down to face the Fourth. Sadly, he did not have the same training from Leosa (which I assume means that the Fourth's freeze ability does not work) and died almost instantly.

Within a short space of time Sable had been killed by the Fourth.

The Everchanging (of the School of Secrets) rescued the remaining five members of Tie Oromendez (taking them to the Moon) and the army were given the signal to retreat.

There the session ended.

Mercas, Seraneas and Gonastros

Sp: Merechus, Serenes, Ganastros

And technically the Fourth had 6 attacks per round. He only got 5 the first round because he was using one of his six arms to hold on to Sable's weapon (and, indirectly, her) !

Good writeup, though.

Did I miss a meeting somewhere down the line?

The general turned into a ten foot demon

Twenty, I thought. I'm not sure how we managed to lose despite our demon being taller than their demon. Maybe we can appeal.

Technically he didn't turn into a demon at all, of course. And it's a bit difficult to gauge the height of a Weapon manifestation - "Ooh, no, I'm not counting that bit, that's a pseudopod which is more like a limb and..."

And no, you lot aren't a Tie. (10 smug points to anyone who can provide the concise reason why not !)

Because we don't have any land?

(See below for explanation of where the Tie name came from)

That's what we were calling ourselves ages ago, when we needed a Tie name to describe us all. At the conference at Sparfi Lake, I think. Katako mentioned it in conversation with Imogen on Saturday, which is probably why Dawn's remembered it.

Right. Also I didn't want to use "The PC group" / "The party" or "Us PCs".
