This week's Angel

Finally, Wesley (probably my favourite character) takes centre stage but I found the resulting episode a bit average. There were no really good lines and just one really good scene. The reference to Connor was annoying; Angel had pretty much got over the kidnap stuff last season - why rehash it ? As far as W-P Senior went, it was a good choice of actor but the interactions between father and son had mixed plausibility. On the one hand they avoided over-doing the atmosphere, on the other Wesley had changed so much (including dress sense) since the days of being a Watcher that it seemed ridiculous for his father (or whatever) not to comment on it. Although, the whole idea of resurrecting the Watchers Council was a nice one (either for real or as a ruse).

However, the cyborgs were very nice (I'd like to see them again) and the idea of them being "good guys" was intriguing. I'm just hoping that they weren't just a throw-away idea for the episode. Additionally, I really loved the scene on the roof from start to finish. Plus, the lift exchange between Spike and Eve was worthy of mention - pity it didn't go beyond hints.

I was half expecting the episode to close with a shot of eve inside the lift saying "hello? can somebody get me out of here?"

And I did love the fact that on the roof wesley's father didn't even get as far as finishing his sentence. It was just so refreshingly nice. :)

I suspect that the Spike/Eve thing will be something that is planned to come out over the series. I think its a shame not that it didn't go beyond hints but that it was rehashing hitns that have been given before.

This whole being uptodate on angel thing is cool. I can now actually read your angel episode reviews. :)
