An Angel review and not much else
Jan. 14th, 2004 01:44 pmAngel is back on Sky One.
Of course, because Spike appears in the credits already I spent most of the episode speculating on where he was and when he would appear - I was more or less right. Pity about Harmony being around; apparently Joss "had run out of Cordelia storylines" and I don't think Cordette number two is a good replacement.
The fight to make Wolfram and Hart a better place was OK. Predictable, of course, but how else could it have been done ? I think I'll wait before I comment on Gunn's new position - I want to see how it progresses. Eve was OK, except... I could imagine Lilah saying all those lines just as well. Why change the character ? I hope there's a good justification at some point this series.
The rest was reasonable enough. I liked the storyline, there were enough references to remind you how the previous series concluded without bogging the audience down in them. Lorne didn't have much to do, but then it was only the first episode. On with the next twenty-one !
Not much other news. I'm playing Final Fantasy IV which has secured a place in my heart by having twins Ryan and Beatrice (I mean Palom and Porum) - the black mage boy and the white mage girl - in it. Plus I've finished my Patchwork Universe patch and have had a new batch of Mourn's Gift comments and a second batch promised.
And nine more days to go.

I know it's terribly belated, but congratulations on Ryan and Beatrice - mutual friends told me when they were born, but I was so out of the loop now's really the first time I got to say it...

Date: 2004-01-14 07:45 am (UTC)Maybe not the most exciting episode ever, but bearing in mind they have to scene set and catch up for everyone who's only just discovered Angel now that Buffy's finished, I think they did very well. Still far better than almost everything else on TV. (The 'almost' is for things like the West Wing.)
Oh, and did anyone else think that Angel's got substantially chubbier than last season?!

Angel's pants enough with Lorne in it without having a whole musical episode.
And before all the fans of the Buffy one respond with "Oi !" - doesn't it strike you as a bad sign when your favourite episode of a show is the one which discards almost the entire format ?
Oh, plus I disagree with
