The usual belated update

It's been an interesting few days.
Friday morning started with the birthday breakfast (distinguishable from a non-birthday breakfast because of the singing of "Happy Birthday") and the opening of the cards (we loved the "Nu Metal Kid" one for Ryan from
triskellian and
smiorgan). Then, around lunchtime my parents appeared and many grandparently presents were opened which the twins played with (much to my relief).
The afternoon was spent discussing politics, Christmas plans and whether we thought some friends of my parents were doing the right thing by moving to Spain (they had a row with one of their grown-up kids just beforehand - I'm not sure it was entirely unrelated). Then when the birthday duo arose we took them for a walk (Ryan had a walk, Bea got carried whenever she fell too far behind).
The evening was the arrival of Uncle
chrestomancy (without banana), Ladybird birthday cake (which I hope to have pictures of), sweet champagne (my parents live near one of the better Tescos) and Chinese takeaway. There was also the unwrapping of the toy cookie jar (once Daddy finally got back from Tao) meaning that the sounds of "heart, I love you" and "five, he he he !" were echoing around the room.
All in all, it was pronounced a successful day.
Saturday was a pretty ordinary day which
bateleur spent programming and I spent throwing away wrapping paper and washing up wine glasses and champagne flutes.
Sunday saw the appearance of
cardinalsin with his players
frax,
cuthbertcross and
dr_bob for the Daedulus game (sadly
ealuscerwen was absent) at which there was an impressive mountain of snack food (cheesy poofs, crisps, dip, cookies, doughnuts and gormet peanuts). See here for
cuthbertcross's review of the day.
Monday and Tuesday were pretty quiet, but yesterday saw the arrival of
triskellian,
smiorgan and
angry_marmot appeared at my door all in Regency costume on their way to an event in Hammersmith. I was impressed by the outfits, but even more impressed by the fact that they didn't faze the furniture delivery people for next door at all.
I made them tea and chatted about stuff in general. The conversation touched on weddings, Christmas plans, diets, cons, the comfortableness of Regency clothes and the duo (after they appeared). They also got treated to a small amount of Cookie Jar noises courtesy of Ryan and Bea.
And this weekend I have an engagement party to look forward to.
