More Babylon 5 ?

Spotted this little JMS report in the BBC Cult Website section. It seems that he's writing something new in the B5 universe that there appears to be funding for.

Now I am something of a B5 fan. As in I loved the first three seasons, tolerated the fourth and hated the fifth. I now own three seasons on DVD and plan to buy the fourth, but then stop. I felt that B5 had been a great idea, but it hadn't quite lived up to expectations. Plus rewatching episodes now, I'm struck with how bad the dialogue is in places (although season three is still immensely gripping).

But maybe this new stuff will be worth seeing. In particular, a movie involving the entire original cast (although getting Patricia Tallman - Lyta Alexander, Claudia Christian - Susan Ivanova or Andrea Thompson - Talia Winters is unlikely) would probably tempt me to the cinema regardless of the reviews.

Wasn't there already a 'follow up series' attempt? Excalibur was it? Apart from the films that is.

Ah yes, Crusade ... Excaliber was the ship, I think.

As for stopping, well, B5 quality has been downhill since S5, I think. The movies linger around 'dire' and 'Crusade' was poor. JMS might do more for his B5 legacy by NOT producing more. ;-)

Peter Woodward has a pretty fun show, airing on the History Channel hereabouts, Conquest ... it's all about the gear and training for some LARPing that refuses to call itself that for the mainstream audience. ;-)

We get that over here, it's mildly entertaining, more SCA than LARPing I think.
