An article on the BBC Newsite says that Saruman's key scenes have been cut from "Return of the King". I assume they mean he will not be appearing at all.

I'm sorry. I'm not particularly upset to lose the Shire scenes, but the business with the palantir will be missed.

Oh well. We'll get to see them when the 83 DVD all three film super extended edition box set comes out in a year or so's time. Just unfortunate that they have to squeeze the film to get it into the traditional slot length at most cinemas. *sigh*

As far as I know, it's the (new version) death of Saruman at Isengard, where he falls onto a spiked wheely-thing. Jackson says the reason was that it felt like he was finishing the 2nd movie, rather than starting the 3rd, so the 7 minutes will indeed go onto the special-extended-edition, which was always the one intended for LOTR geeks anyway.

My LOTR problem is that yesterday I received The Return Of The King videogame, and last night I did all the levels from TTT, but I can go no further cos I'm just not sure I want to watch spoiler bits of ROTK spliced into a hacky-slashy gauntlet-esque style game ;-(. Thus I stopped playing when the next levels were 'Shelob's Lair' and 'The walls of Minas Tirith' ;-(

I've not been entirely enthused by the LOTR films in general but Lee has been one of the things I have liked about them (possibly because of my liking for the Wicker Man and the Hammer films). This is a pity.
