The Lesser Pink Bedroom

I finally finished the painting. Yesterday
bateleur and I covered all the walls, today I applied a second coat where needed and painted the few spots that had been missed.
It looks competent, although not professional. The chosen colour (a pale stone shade) goes well with the multicoloured curtains and deep pink carpet and is certainly a great improvement on the rather dubious pink wallpaper that it replaced. Best of all, we can finally put up a couple of shelves and extra picture hooks (always delayed on the grounds "we should paint it first").
What about the rest of the house ? Well, it's unlikely that we'll do much more decorating. Not because it doesn't need it, but because we're not planning to be here for too much longer. OK, we thought we would probably have moved by now, but we will be going, either next year or the following one.
Apart from the decorating we've been watching the first season of Alias for the first time around.
As promised by
chrestomancy, it was a really good series. I was exceptionally impressed with the plot continuity; they'd gone to a lot of effort to ensure that their story lines were consistent. Also the characters were good and all the actors (with the exception, IMO, of guest star Roger Moore) gave thoroughly believable performances. OK, the mix of James Bond-esque action and very dark plotlines was a little weird, but not particularly bad in itself.
I was rather upset to see what looks like the end of Michael Vaughn. (Lesson - when your partner comes sprinting towards you at top speed, do not hang around to see what she's running from; not least when you know you're on a timer.) And also I would have been happier to see a few more of the loose ends tied or the whole longevity issue taken further than a throw-away line (although I gain smug points for correctly identifying "The Man"). However, far better to leave things unexplained than to run out of plot and character development (mentioning no Buffy in particular).
I'm now looking forward to season two. Sadly, as we've decided to wait for the DVD version again, this could take a little while...
All in all, it's been a good week.
