Computer games
May. 27th, 2002 09:15 amWell, I have finally finished the Baldur's Gate saga. The Throne of Bhaal expansion was fairly impressive - far better than the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion for Baldur's Gate 1. The Watchers Keep subquest in particular was nicely done - although a little abstract in places (and some misleading clues of how to solve things - the element rooms for example). It still had a few glitches, but nothing major. Reading the walkthrough, however, proved amusing as I found the battles of rather different relative difficulty to the reviewer. For example, I did the final Watchers Keep battle (optional to fight) first time around, but the "final guardians" to reach it were really, really, tough. I also found Draconis very, very hard; but the "hard" stage (ie. the last but one) of the final battle comparatively easy. I would thoroughly recommend the game to anyone (assuming they could still find a retailer which sold it).
Final Fantasy X is currently in progress. Dom and I play it together, I tend to sit back and just give advice ("use fire on Ochu", "You want to go the other way") as I tend to play all the FF games through by myself a second time round (with the exception of VII which I've played several times in different ways and still enjoy). It has an interesting storyline and good graphics, but I find I'm still keener on FFVII. The main problem with X is that there seems little scope for variation in the plot (or the conversations). Oh, and Tidus' accent reminds me of Guybrush Threepwood from Monkey Island (TM)s III and IV (i.e. Curse of and Escape from). Perhaps we are not far enough in, but the Final Fantasy series has been becoming more linear with every game.
Ryan and Beatrice are due in the hospital today. It is their regular two monthly check-up, so will hopefully be straightforward. They get weighed and measured (so stats appearing up here tomorrow, hopefully). I just hope that the hospital are quicker with their appointments this time - last March they were two hours late in.
Well, I need more coffee...
