For anyone who doesn't know about this; I asked [livejournal.com profile] venta for five questions (answered below).

1. You may go anywhere in England for a weekend - where do you choose, and why ? (you may take bateleur with you, if you wish; twins are optional :)

Somewhere with nicer scenery than Feltham or Cambridge ! Probably Nottingham. I have a soft spot for the city after my three year university stint, I can indulge my nostalgic streak, and it is suitably close to Sherwood Forest, the Peak District and Alton Towers. I would probably visit Wollaton Hall and its deer park, wander the city centre (there is a vegan cafe that does wonderful homemade soup) and walk around the "university park" (the bit with the lake which isn't owned by the university). It also gives me a chance to revisit all those places I used for my Mage and Witchcraft campaigns. [livejournal.com profile] bateleur gets to come, but the twins are granny-parked. (I'll see if I can organise this in October).

2. If you could make one major alteration to your house (has to be plausible - adding a ballroom is out I'm afraid), what would it be ?

Just how plausible ? How about adding a cellar (I always wanted a functional cellar) or a secret room ? Failing that an attic conversion. Of course redecoration of all the rooms (the "all-pink" master bedroom, the "bunnies on the walls" childrens room, the "seventies" hall, etc.) would also be a major improvement (the bedroom is next on our actual list).

3. Butter or mayonnaise in your sandwiches ?

Mayonnaise, preferably home-made. Particularly in bacon and blue cheese on ciabatta.

4. What do you most hope either of the twins will grow up to be ? (For question purposes, hope means "hope", not "will rabidly push them in this direction regardless of their own inclinations" :)

Happy. However, if you mean job-wise, then I hope they end up being able to make a living out of one of their hobbies - writing, acting, music, etc. Of course, if they end up with morally/legally-dubious hobbies I may rethink this one.

5. If you had to spend a year living authentically in the manner of an historic period (pre 1940), what year would you choose and why ?

Oh dear. This is where my horror of primitive living conditions comes in. No running water ? No electricity ? I hate camping too. It would either be the 1920s (the 1930s were far too depressing) 'cos they would have some of those things, or a really rich family back in the nineteenth century. I'd quite like to see some of Jane Austen's world - from a comfortable vantage point of course.

Now, in turn, people are welcome to ask me for five questions which they can answer in their own LJs (assuming, of course, that there is anyone left).
