The weekend was full of roleplaying; much to the delight of the two pampered twins who had plenty of people to play with.

Monde

After much discussion and paranoia, we decided to take the skull from the Guardian. The Guardian with the big sword and unknown magical abilities. The Guardian who, it turned out, was insubstantial. Much to our relief. Although my character (Imogen) is still not entirely sure that we got away with it. What we will actually end up doing with the skull is unclear.

The Guardian (who may not have been completely honest with us) told us that it could be used to destroy the Parliament of Prime. Apparently Sianlock had a tutor named Leosa. This Leosa is not dead but imprisoned. However, he could be freed with the Ghost Hammer (which a member of our party back in Monde owns). This Leosa could then use the skull (although my notes say "skulls") to defeat the Parliament. Except... the Parliament were pretty dead last time we checked, anyway. And... we have no good reason for freeing Leosa. So the skull might be better off destroyed.

The Guardian was a good source of much information. He told us that the Sage Emperor of the Moon was Leosophus (since proved true) and that the Walled Stone of Prime has a "shadowy guardian" called the Fourth which the Parliament serves. However, I have since re-read the Monde history (well, the official version) which [livejournal.com profile] bateleur put on the website. This includes the words "At that time, there existed three demon Mantars [warrior kings] named Etcheimozan, Annatekhan and Moianmori. They formed an alliance to conquer the city of Prime and loot its treasures." So... could the Fourth be another demon Mantar ? And, if the Fourth lives in Prime, then are/were each of the others connected to a city ? Perhaps the writings from the forge might provide a few more clues.

Anyway, enough historical theories. We talked with Council Wisdom and agreed a bargain whereupon we would discover the cause of the supplies shortage and they (ie. the four figures on the Council's body) would help us leave the Moon. We then worried about the bargain and whether the written words could be twisted to involved us in more than we wanted.

Before travelling up to the Emperor's Palace (where we were to begin our investigations) we took one final look at a site we had found in the mists. It turned out to be a staircase heading down to the encirclement. Interesting but, sadly, useless.

We also discovered that the skull (or - for the benefit of Sigurne - Katako's pack which contained the skull) spent some of the night singing folk songs with Sigurne. Plus Sable thought she had seen an old man sitting with Sigurne. Plus Katako had heard a voice earlier in the day which none of us heard. All this means that it is possible that the skull will start acting whether we want it to or not.

The last part of the session was spent at a party on the level of the Palace, trying to obtain information about the shortage. It turns out that the problems started a couple of months ago and that the Emperor has just arranged to be absent for a month. Plus sorcerers are being recalled to the palace (possibly to find the skull, of course). Also, some are talking of replacing the Emperor. Although none of this, to date, has helped us determine what the problem is.

Oh, and Lord Grasp has reappeared with a strange unsociable lady in a mask.

Dragon-Blooded

My initial thoughts on this game include the fact that the person who decided upon our group was after something other than team harmony. The sparring went beyond competitive and we are only a couple of days in. The pirates may help though. There is nothing like a common enemy to improve group spirit.

And, of course, we are nowhere near starting our actual mission. Hopefully we will all still be alive by then. Or, at least, all party casualties will be caused by actual enemy action.

It was all great fun, however. If watched from a safe distance.

In other news, Ryan behaved badly. He never does cope well with having objects removed from his reach. Although [livejournal.com profile] elethiomel found his "camera instincts" incredibly entertaining. (Oooo ! Mummy is pointing a camera at me, must turn and smile !) Beatrice was much more sedate and benefitted from [livejournal.com profile] onebyone's mistake of feeding her flapjack (how many crumbs can I drop on him ?!).

Finally, my email has gone down again. This is becoming a depressing regularity.

Another quote, another thought

"Their armies were driven away by the Deizuno [sacred heroes] of Prime and so they tried again, this time attacking by guile, deception and corruption."

Would that make them the founders of the School of Secrets ?

Perhaps I have a biased viewpoint of the S of S...
