...another gold star for Beatrice.

It also gave her an opportunity to show off her new trick - clapping her hands together.

Ryan was mostly well-behaved, particularly given that he had to watch from the playpen. There was a little bit of shouting ("Mum", "Mum", "Mum") towards the end, but nothing worse.

Happy Clappy

Hmm. The Gibbon is unsure of the usefulness of being able to clap hands.

Grasp a steering wheel? Yes. Clap? No. That is what her adoring fans will need to be able to do.

Perhaps you could start to teach her more useful skills, such as attaching safety belts, spraying champagne and reverse-steering in difficult corners?

Isn't that your job ?

Already shouting 'mum'?

How vocalised have they become? What's their vocabulary like?

I'm amazed at how quickly children develop and learn - eerie really.

They really, really haven't. This is normal among twins (I'm told), but if things don't change before their second birthdays, they will both get speech therapy.

Although I would be surprised if it went that far.

re: normal for twins - yeah stands to reason, they spend so much time with another person struggling with the same sounds, comprehension, replication, etc. Adds more gibberish to the input.

re: speech therapy - yeah, sounds like they'll pull through in all likelihood. In any event, such therapy can be good ... I myself needed it for my old stammering.

What I am shocked and dismayed about is that neither of them has said "mug" yet. All my efforts have come to naught!

:)

You'll have to have another go.

And there's been no repeat performance of Bea saying "beer", despite my (brief) efforts last Monde session. But then the reason it was brief was that I didn't have any beer, so maybe she's just smarter than I reckoned on.

One thing which occurred to me about 'mug' is that in fact beebies don't make noises with the backs of their mouths very often. As such, the "g" sound is tricky.

Hence "dod" for "dog", "tat" for "cat" etc.

Well, "Mud" would do me.
