The Friday Reviews
Mar. 21st, 2003 09:24 amAs ever, reviews from last night.
Bring On The Night
I found this on the disappointing side. I think this was because the episode was mainly spent bringing the gang up to speed on what the audience knew or could guess. At the start of the episode the audience know that the Watchers Council and its network have been attacked (and mostly destroyed) and that the seal has been opened to bring out some sort of super-vampire (which can probably kick the sh*t out of Buffy). At the end of the episode the gang have discovered that the Watchers Council and its network have been attacked (and mostly destroyed) and that the seal has been opened to bring out some sort of super-vampire which kicked the sh*t out of Buffy. Fortunately, there is slightly more to the episode than that. The arrival of the potential slayers is a good omen for future stories whilst Giles is always great (although he seemed strangely unhelpful and inactive for once).
Long Day's Journey
Enjoyable, although it could have been played out over a couple of episodes to greater effect. I liked Gwen slightly better here than earlier; particularly after her conversations with Gunn. The "Angelus" storyline should prove very interesting, and I predict that they'll bring him back and then lose control of him (not a difficult prediction, that). I found the Angel-Cordelia-Connor stuff tedious (Gunn-Fred-Wesley was only slightly better), but hopefully Angelus should put a stop to the angst. Nice story line, nice plot development. I'll be interested to see where this goes.
In other news, my word processor package has arrived, so I get to play with that today. And
condign is coming over for dinner this evening; probably for the last time for some years. It's always odd when friends move out of the country - I still miss
unknownid, even now.

Date: 2003-03-21 10:25 am (UTC)oh well, if things keep going the way they are in the US, we may be moving to Europe in 4 years... it's always been our fallback position as far as immigration goes, but as American politics get scarier, Europe looks more and more attractive.
