Turns out that there will be a fair number of returns from the original cast to Heroes Reborn. So far Noah Bennet is, I think, the only one who has been confirmed as a regular, but both The Haitian (Rene) and Hiro were confirmed early enough that they may have large parts. Meanwhile, Matt Parkman and Mohinder Suresh have been signed up for arcs. Although there also appears to be a large new cast as well.

We'll see what the balance between old and new turns out to be.

A new Heroes series? How did they manage to get the project approved? I though for sure seasons 2-4 of the original show made incremental efforts to kill everyone's interest in the license.

I'll probably get my hopes up and watch the pilot anyway.

It's set some years after the original series and with a - mainly - new cast. For ages the only original cast member confirmed was Noah Bennet / Jack Coleman. So I think he's got a fairly prominent role.

Whilst this post lists who is in it, in some earlier ones I've highlighted that Sylar (Zachary Quinto) and Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) both said that they were not going to be (ZQ was asked and declined in terms of "it was a great show, but I'm doing other stuff, good luck to them" etc. whilst MV got his "it was a great show, but I'm doing other stuff, good luck to them" in early when reporters were first asking if he'd consider it).

I also suspect that Ali Larter (Tracy, etc) and Hayden Panettiere (Claire) won't be in it as both have contracts with other networks. However, neither has said if they were asked.

No sign of Angela or Ando. Or any of the surviving season 4 lot (Emma, Lauren, Gretchen - although hardly without Claire, Carnival people).

Well, interesting characters are still there. I like Ventimiglia but Peter's most compelling story arc was in season 1 and then it went downhill. Sylar has been shown under every light they could come up with and all I can remember from Claire is a rince-and-repeat "my Dad is an ***hole, I'm getting away from him, eventually we save each other and are family again".

I'm happy for Hiro since I'm a time travelling nut; however the ability is so fundamentally broken that I wonder how he can avoid having his life constantly threatened in a post-media-reveal world. Perhaps he went back and prevented Claire from doing the jump?

Yes, I thought that them wanting Sylar back was not a good sign. Also, whilst many of the characters hadn't got closure from the final of the last season I think its Matt where I most thought there was scope to play out something more interesting. Noah/Claire on trust issues kept being a thing because they got praised for it back in season 1 but, as I reviewed for later seasons, it quickly became "same old, same old" and part of the problems.

Hiro and - to an even greater extent - Sylar were very broken. Peter much less so by the end as he was only as broken as the people around him.
