Last weekend I kicked off the second series of my Warhammer 40K game. This was the first thread with the Assassin Urlban / Guardsman Tiberius / Tech Priest Roth party of [livejournal.com profile] bateleur, [livejournal.com profile] ao_lai and [livejournal.com profile] chrestomancy.

The party arrived on Alanius Eyrie, a shrine world and the home planet of both Tiberius Locke and Inquisitor Vibius. They had three weeks of holiday which Urlban spent visiting the main church of the Saint, Tiberius went home briefly and then did the same and Roth stayed in the countryside for his first experience of the great, wild outdoors.

Then the investigation began. A man turned up asking the group to investigate his sister's shuttle crash. Leads pointed the group to the shuttle's cargo, which turned out to be an escaped Psyker. Eventually the group tracked down both where she came from and also where she was hiding. There followed a number of disturbing sequences where plants died and gravity reversed. By the end of the session they had dealt with her, but were left with more troubling questions about how she had come here. Then the warp storm hit the sector and a transport was monitored coming down to land on the planet.

Other than that it's been fairly quiet on the roleplaying front, although more Star Wars is scheduled towards the end of June.

We've also seen another film - Dragon, which is a 2011 Hong Kong-Chinese martial arts film. It stars Donnie Yen who was also in Ip Man, Blade 2 and Hero. It's got a bit of mystery plot but is mostly about whether people can change and redeem themselves along with some dodgy science and awesome martial arts.

Apart from those, I've been out on work visits and generally pottering around on Secret World and bits of other computer games (including replaying Portal 2). I may also get back to the second part of Dreamfall Chapters at some point - although with the final three parts yet to come out, I'm not in any rush.

I don't know much about 40k, but "Tech Priest" sounds great. Where can I apply to their religion?

Mars is their headquarters. They worship the Machine God aka The Emperor.

Aha, so the same Emperor than anyone else.

(reads a wiki)

Wait, this is totally not the same kind of worshipping (or Emperor) than in fantasy Warhammer!

It's the Emperor of the Golden Throne of Earth.

I note that the official record does not show Inquisitor Vibius and several dozen Imperial Guard also being present while we "dealt with" the Psyker. And getting their asses handed to them by this one young woman while the PCs were variously injured, stunned or floating uselessly some way above the ground. We were lucky to get away without losing Fate Points there, I felt. :-P

It's the conclusion of the report that counts, I feel. And the Imperial Guard wrote it.
