Today we watched the final episode of The Wire season 3. Overall it was an interesting season but it felt mostly like two decent final episodes with the other ten being something of a mess. Bunny's Hamsterdam idea was interesting, but didn't quite feel realistic. I never warmed to Cutty as a character even though I was clearly supposed to, not least on the basis of screen time. And the rest? It felt as though the characters were being kept on because the audience liked them, but without the writers having much idea about what they should be doing. Stringer's stuff was OK and I'm becoming a fan of Omar. The rest weren't so great though. On the plus side, I like where most of the characters ended up, although it looks like season 4 will either have to be heavily political, or have almost a whole new set of Bads.
