I've just endured the first twenty minutes of Changeling. I've seen too much sexism and "female disempowerment" as its description calls it in real life to find the film anything but upsetting. God knows why people choose to watch this stuff for entertainment.

Top three reasons to watch the film:

1) Good cinematography.
2) Period hats.
3) Erm...

Well, it has Angelina Jolie in it, and there are plenty of people who would think Ed Wood's worst film was wonderful if she'd been in it.

And it's based on a true story. The 19th Amendment (women's right to vote) was only about 10 years old, and sexism was pretty rampant. Trying to tell the story without it would be like a movie about WWI without mustard gas.

Yeah, I read afterwards that it was based on a true story and therefore inconclusive. Walter's probably dead, but we don't know for sure. I tend not to watch true stories because I don't like their - generally - unfinished nature. Gods and Men was excellent except for the bit at the end when it stopped before it's story was over.

Or to put it another way - I'd rather they'd tried to tell a different, equally interesting but finished true story.
