General comments: I found that this volume started rather weirdly, trying to turn everything around (Sylar a good guy, Peter wrestling with "the hunger", Mohinder... actually, let’s not go there) and then got back to more normal business. The plot pace was strong and an awful lot happened. I think that I liked where it ended, but didn’t like the various plot reversals. It’s biggest weakness, in my view, was that there seemed too little in the way of plausible character development and whilst Nathan’s choices, for example, ended the volume in a good place, they seemed out of the blue. Also, it was just too full of continuity errors.

Good/OK things:
- Arthur Petrelli as chief bad guy.
- The line-up on both sides.
- Nathan's plot and where it's going.
- Matt’s plot.
- The identity of Nathan's assassin.
- The deaths of Arthur, Meredith, Adam, Maury and Bob (although it would have been nice to know more about Bob beforehand)
- The return of the Haitian.
- That Nathan changed sides.
- Nathan's return to politics (even if I can't take Sheridan seriously).
- That Peter had reverted to his original personality (and is making smarter calls - although I wish I didn't have suspicions that the two things are connected!).
- That Mohinder has stopped being the evil nest-making thing.
- Sandra Bennet.
- That Hiro inherited the Japanese company.
- Matt's cop attitude
- That there is more Angela.
- That Niki did indeed die.
- Maya’s exit (mainly because she had no plot).
- Seth Green (Oz from Buffy).
- That the various romance characters have switched (ie. Peter and Hiro did not have partners for the first time and, likewise, Claire didn’t get a new boyfriend).
- After thinking about it, Nathan/Tracey. It makes more sense than most Heroes romances.
- I found I didn’t miss West or Monica (although I missed Micah and Molly a little).

Bad/less OK things:
- Why Nathan changed sides.
- That Mohinder became the evil nest-making thing.
- The episode "Villains" because it added very little to the general background knowledge and twitched between a year earlier (ie. the time of Six Months Ago) and six months ago (ie. the time of Genesis - the pilot episode).
- Sylar apparently having every power under the sun - I was particularly annoyed that he'd got empathy.
- That huge effort was put into the "Sylar/Elle" plot and then it just stopped.
- Ditto the "Sylar as a Petrelli" plot (even though this wasn’t a favourite).
- Elle's death, just seemed unnecessary.
- That Adam came back after a fitting season 2 ending.
- That Hiro/Ando isn't moving terribly fast.
- Not enough Matt.
- The tone of the first four episodes.

So that’s half the season reviewed.

Bad/less OK things: - That Mohinder became the evil nest-making thing.

I wouldn't have minded that so much if he hadn't been such a moron (and somewhat out of character for a scientist) injecting himself in the first place. Might have worked better with a new NPC being introduced who was experimenting with artificial powers and accidentally did this to one of her test subjects, who then cocooned her and became a new supervillain.

Yeah - that whole plotline was just crap.
