Just a note - I haven't seen any further than I'm commenting, so please don't say anything about further into season 3.

Summary (mostly a list of where everyone's now got to): Peter can had his powers taken by his father and been thrown out of a window by Sylar (but stopped from hitting the ground too fast by someone - probably Sylar). Nathan knows about his father and is off to confront him (it's not clear whether he knows Sylar is his brother yet). Daphne is with Matt, but working as a double agent for Arthur Petrelli. Matt has been told about his father's murder and is determined to do his cop bit and deal with Arthur. Tracey is following Nathan around. Claire has started rounding up the level 5 escapees, putting her at odds with her father, and is now in New York having gone with Elle. Elle has gone to Arthur. Mohinder took Maya to Arthur and is now working with him to produce a new formula (I thought they already had a working one of old?). Mohinder's state is known about by most other characters. Sylar has been told by Arthur that Angela's favourite son is Peter, not him, and that she tried to kill him as a baby after seeing a vision. Sylar consequently switched sides. Maya has had her power willingly taken and has gone. Hiro and Ando are in Africa, having found the pre-cog and Hiro has been tricked into taking the pre-cog substance, as Matt did before him. Angela is still under her husband's influence, but able to reach out in dream state.

General comments: The plot pace is still good and I'm generally relieved that some of the horrors we were anticipating (eg. Peter and "the hunger") haven't taken place. Also, we've actually got a nice number of villains for once. Still not big on the continuity errors though.

Continuity errors: Why doesn't Nathan know he has another brother as he's definitely the eldest (the actor is about twelve years older than the other actors, but then I'm not sure what characters respective ages are supposed to be)? Surely he'd have both been around when his mother's pregnancy developed and been old enough (12ish) to understand it meant a new baby (as the Petrelli's didn't hide Sylar 'til after he was born)? They might put it down to the Haitian I guess. Also, I was generally surprised by Bennet's response to Mohinder's cocoon lair given their working relationship in season two (that he didn't say more).

Good/OK things:
- That there are Villains! (Generations had too few of the older crowd).
- Arthur Petrelli as chief bad guy.
- Arthur Petrelli's power.
- Adam's death.
- Maury's death (and concern with Matt at the end - the series is into these last minute crises of conscious, as for Isaac and Eden).
- Matt's cop attitude.
- Matt fooling the assassin (pity it was worthless).
- Maya's departure; it's not like she was doing anything.
- That it's not clear exactly what view either Arthur or Angela have about any of their three sons at this point.
- That Nathan and Tracey both have artificial powers.
- That Peter hasn't gone angsty over his powers loss and also appears to be reverting to something closer to his original personality (and has lost "the hunger").
- Lyle and the cup of water over Elle.
- Sandra partnering Claire.

Bad/less OK things:
- Mohinder's conversion to bad guy status.
- That Peter was the first guinea pig; or does his father have a reason to hate him that much (it seemed to previously amount to that they didn't get on)?
- Daphne.
- That Hiro/Ando isn't moving terribly fast.
- Not enough Matt.
- The bad science in the plane.
- That, despite the artificially perfectly-powered people, there still appears to be a need for Mohinder to "develop the formula".

In general, I think it's improved.
