Heroes episode 28 (episode 5 of season 2). This is the first episode of the show which Claire isn't in, I think every other character missed at least one episode in season 1 (with the possible exception of Mr Bennet, but I think he missed Nothing to Hide).
Summary: A blonde woman turns up in Ireland looking for Peter. When the bar owner gets wind of it he sends Peter with Caitlin to her apartment (having realised the two are now a couple). In the apartment, Peter opens the box and finds a passport with his full name which notes he comes from New York, an open ticket to Montreal, a photograph of himself and Nathan (who he doesn't recognise) and some money; none of which helps him. It turns out Caitlin paints, Peter picks up her materials and paints the future - the two of them in a city with French signs. Meanwhile the blonde turns up at the pub and kills the owner with lightning when he refuses to help her find Peter; then, afterwards waiting in her car, is called back "home" by "daddy". Peter and Caitlin are called back to the pub where Peter decides he can't hide any more and needs to find out more. Ando gets help deciphering the scrolls from the tech department and discovers Hiro has continued his quest up to the point where the three of them are about to take on an army. Matt and Nathan go after Matt's dad to find out what he did to Molly and get some answers about the murders. They show up at his apartment and discover that he has another fragment of photo and that he too can read minds. He then tricks the pair and traps them into different nightmares (Matt and his wife, Nathan and his two-face self) where they beat each other up until Matt manages to break free. Afterwards Nathan finds a picture of Bob with the same symbol - suggesting Matt's dad is the killer (which would tie in with the nature of both deaths, but would he need to kill people?). Mohinder takes Molly into the company to be looked after, where he runs into Niki being treated. He tries to help her escape - to discover that she doesn't want to, she wants to be cured. He is then sent after another Hero. Monica gives evidence to the police, but realises she can't name the attacker. Micah recognises Monica's ability after she plays the piano cold. The two experiment with it and she learns she is a copycat (like "St Joan" in the Ninth Wonder comics). Mohinder turns up at the end of the day to claim her for the company.
Naming the episode: It applies to both Peter and Matt's father (and we even get a piece of the usual Mohinder at the start). Also, I guess, to Niki.
Comments: This was a great episode, particularly on a rewatch and, I think, the first this season with an introduction piece from Mohinder. The three romances were respectively absent (Claire/West), taking a back seat to the quest (Hiro/Yaeko) and (mostly) taking a back seat to clues about the missing four months (Peter/Caitlin). The twins are absent, so is Sylar and instead there's a lovely piece about the meeting between Matt and Nathan and Matt's father (in the "mini-episode" style which I recently complained season 2 doesn't do), some nice hints about Peter's missing four months and a great team-up between Micah and Monica. Finally, an introduction to Elle (although, technically, she isn't named in this episode).
Cast list absences: Claire, Maya, Alejandro, Sylar and West. Also, a brief appearance from Mr Bennet.
Continuity issues raised: Why does Mohinder think the Company can help Molly when he already knows he understands the problems better than them? (After them bringing him in to help Molly is season 1).
Micah/Monica: Lovely stuff, a real season one episode moment as well as she comes to terms with what she can do.
Bennet/Haitian: A brief scene on the phone to Mohinder - hopefully more on their painting hunt next week.
Mohinder: Keen to help Niki, only she doesn't want it. Can't believe he took Molly into the company.
Matt/Nathan: This is becoming the great partnership of the season. They get the interesting plot as well - is Matt's father the murderer? The "nightmare" aspect would certainly explain why Kaito went off the top of a building alone (and also why Ando saw it) and is the best explanation of Angela's self-inflicted injuries that I can think of. Finally, the evolution of the mind-reading powers is looking fascinating (and over-powered!).
Peter/Elle: Peter must get the lightning from Elle, but she looks like Company (or perhaps a rival company). Her attitude to killing a bystander is certainly disturbing. And what's with Montreal?
Ando/Hiro: Brief, but a good "fast forward".
