Heroes episode 22.

Summary: Nathan is nervous because it is election day and he is down in the polls. Linderman is with him and he takes Heidi's hand before he leaves to give them both a present to see them through the days ahead. After he leaves, Heidi and Nathan discover she is cured. Hiro and Ando take the sword to be mended, discover a advert which has the Godsend symbol and go there. On the way they pass Nathan who they try to convince to help them, but Nathan tells Hiro the bomb can not be stopped. Arriving at the shop, they find Hiro's father waiting for them. He takes Hiro to one side and says they need to talk. Meanwhile, Peter at first looks as though he has lost control of Ted's power, but then regains the upper hand. He convinces Ted to leave New York with him, with Matt's help, and Claire goes with them as she is able to get close to and therefore kill either of them. Matt and Bennet then enter the Linderman building. Sylar overheard Ted, Peter and the others in Kirby Plaza, tracks them down and sends the FBI after Ted. The other two escape using invisibility. Sylar then attacks the van carrying Ted and takes his power. Back at the Linderman building, following a visit from Linderman himself, Candice takes Micah to the polling booths and he changes the votes to a landslide for Nathan. Jessica and DL go to Nathan to ask him where Linderman is. Nathan tells them on the grounds that they don't lead Linderman back to him. During the conversation he discovers he has won by a landslide. Jessica and DL then go to the Linderman building and intercept Matt and Bennet. The latter two are after Molly and kill Bennet's boss (Thompson) to get to her. On discovering that "Walker" is a young girl, Bennet hesitates and Mohinder uses the pause to knock Matt out and train a gun on Bennet. Hiro's father turns out to know all about Hiro's power and tells him it is the journey and not the sword that is important. Hiro's father then remembers the Kensai stories (about the former owner of the sword) he used to tell his son and trains him in swordfighting. Hiro emerges, ready to face Sylar, only to discover that Ando has already left to deal with the killer, not believing that Hiro will do it. Claire and Peter find the road blocked leading out of the city and, investigating, discover Ted has been killed by Sylar. They then know they need to deal with Sylar, but Peter says that he doesn't think he can as Sylar killed him when they last fought (and. arguably, the time before). Finally, Jessica and DL confront Linderman. Linderman tries to bribe Jessica to kill DL, but Niki finally takes control and refuses. Linderman then shoots her, DL takes the bullet, but them kills Linderman himself before collapsing. The episode ends with Nathan's victory speech and Sylar on the Deveaux building testing his new powers.

Comments: This episode has some nice moments, although not quite enough to make it a favourite. Top of the list are Niki finally triumphing over Jessica and Linderman along with Hiro's training. Also noteworthy are Audrey coming face-to-face with Sylar (and thus proving that the FBI never stood a chance at getting him), the revelations surrounding Hiro's father who says what Linderman says - opening the question of whether the "others" that departed from their plans might be each other, the revelations surrounding the Petrelli's father - that he had abilities and the indications from Candice that comments about her true size were what prompted her to join Linderman.

Cast list absences: All the main (still alive) characters are present. However Mohinder has a smaller role than usual.

Claire/Peter: Really just following on from the end of the last episode. No major developments for either of them.

Mr Bennet/Matt: I like this partnership and, again, it worked well with getting into the building and killing Thompson - for which, lovely dialogue. Thompson: "What am I thinking now, Parkman?" Bennet: "Your last thoughts."

Ted/Audrey/Sylar: A good twist to Audrey's plot line, such as it existed; meeting Sylar and having no idea she had done so. If Sylar is ever killed in this series (which I'm beginning to doubt), it would be nice if Audrey happened to be in the same episode. Also, sadly, she's reverted from the more enlightened state she had once reached. Shame about Ted, although I guess he did try to kill everyone back in Bennet's home town. On the other hand, he does redeem himself here somewhat; like Jackie, he tells Claire (and Peter) to get away.

Ando/Hiro/Hiro's father: The sword fighting is lovely stuff, as is Hiro's father's mentor role - nice that one of the older generation is willing to help without massive manipulation and personal gain. Also Ando is much more motivated and now the driving force. Also Hiro's reaction to Nathan: "villain" is nice, it would have be worse had he always believed in Nathan no matter what.

Mohinder/Molly: Brief, but a continuation from the last episode.

Nathan/Angela/Heidi: Nathan has he wife back whole again, his mother supporting him and he's won the election. He now seems convinced that Linderman's plan is the way to go. Although, it was interesting that, even when Linderman reversed Heidi's condition, he was still willing to give him up to Jessica and DL.

Jessica/Niki/DL: Niki's finest hour! It was great to finally watch her come back on top. Also she finally got a good line: "Didn't I throw you out a window?" DL's role, sadly, has been almost entirely bit part in this series and very much the support act to Niki. Most notable because he never really got scenes with anyone else. It's a shame (particularly as he's Forrest), but he did always seem a bit too cuddly to have the dubious gang connections he supposedly starts the series with. At least he got to kill Linderman.
