Episode 15.

Summary: Meredith contacts Nathan asking for money in return for silence. He discusses the situation with his mother who urges him to send money and not to go in case he feels obliged to take care of Claire. He ignores her advice to some extent - going, but then deciding not to see Claire. Claire herself is keen to see him, Sandra is ill and her illness appears to be connected to her memory losses. With no trust of her adopted father as well, Claire is looking for someone to help her but Meredith announces her plans to return to Mexico and then Claire eavesdrops on the conversation between Nathan and Meredith to learn that Nathan does not want to meet her at all. She returns home only to discover that Sandra's memory is failing and she recognises neither Mr Muggles or Claire. Matt, meanwhile, has taken a security job to protect a man for a day. However, it turns out that the man in question has stolen money from Mr Linderman (the money DL and Jessica had) and is being hunted by Mr Linderman's assassin - Jessica. Following a long cat-and-mouse sequence Matt ends up thrown out of the window by Jessica (but saved by a ledge) whilst his client is killed. When the police turn up they are dismissive of Matt's account (which includes two assassins as he can hear Niki and Jessica separately) and consequently, after finding the diamonds himself, Matt decides not to return them to the men who think he is incompetent and finished as a policeman. Mohinder is trying to contact others with abilities and finally is called back - by a man called Zane Taylor. Mohinder arrives at Taylor's house to discover that Taylor can dissolve items. However, this Taylor is really Sylar who co-incidentally turned up in the same place earlier and is playing the part of Taylor. Hiro and Ando return to Vegas with the aim of locating Linderman and therefore the sword. Entering the hotel they meet Hope, who Ando immediately takes to and wants to help, and agree to steal her bag back for her from the hotel room of her abusive boyfriend. Hiro bails on the plan when he discovers that said boyfriend has guns in the room, but Ando continues and finds the bag. He returns to Hope to find no sign of Hiro, but agrees to take her to meet her "mother". Hiro, however, has been shut in a storeroom following his discovery that Hope is really a fraud. Finally, the episode ends with Jessica getting her second assignment from Linderman - to kill Nathan.

Comments: It's slightly frustrating to lose both the big guest stars at once, but never mind. Probably the best part of this whole episode is Matt's moral dilemma - which ends with him taking the diamonds. However other scenes that I liked included Angela's coldness towards her (first) grandchild and her keenness on the election in contrast and the scene between Meredith and Nathan. Also, there's some black moments surrounding Ando's eagerness to help Hope: he repeats the lessons that Hiro said to him, but he's wrong about the situation. Is Ando unlucky, or wrong because he isn't a Hero? Or is the Hope thing easily spotable?

Cast list absences: No Peter, Simone or Isaac. Very brief glimpses of DL and Micah.

Claire/Meredith/Nathan: The contrast between Nathan and Meredith is amusing; he sits uncomfortable in his expensive suit in the middle of the trailer park. Also, her comments to him about Claire hoping for a rescue from a tragic situation "sound familiar?" suggest a lot about how he and she met. Also, it shows Meredith's practical side through her acknowledgment that she and Nathan were never going to work and her greedy side through only telling Claire about half of the money. Claire's situation has reached the grim now - she's reaching out to find someone she can trust and failing. I liked that Claire eavesdropped on her parents - it showed initiative on her part.

Hiro/Ando: It was interesting seeing Ando repeat many of Hiro's earlier lines to him. Although, sadly, in the wrong situation.

Sylar/Mohinder: The start of a really bad partnership? Sylar imitating Zane was great though. But... Sylar showing co-incidentally on the same morning?

Niki/Jessica/Matt: Lovely sequence, a huge piece in the middle where episodes are usually constantly chopping between scenes. I guess this is the bit that makes it "Run!" as well. I liked that Matt could hear Niki and felt that more could be made of it at some future point. The scope for both their powers is shown - both survive although Matt comes off worse (that said, he was trying to protect someone else rather than just save himself).

Sandra/Mr Bennett: The illness is an interesting complication, wonder where this is going.
