Episode 7.

Summary: This episode starts with Peter dreaming about Charles and then Simone calling on him to tell him that her father has died. From here they go to Isaac's apartment and discover he has gone along with his paintings; Simone tells Peter that Linderman has the missing painting. The rest of the Petrelli family are fixing a brunch meeting with a journalist. Peter shows up at the brunch to ask Nathan for the painting and ends up saving Nathan from an accusation of a blonde in Vegas by pretending that Nathan was there arranging for medical help for him. Nathan arranges for the painting to be returned, but tells Peter otherwise. Niki meanwhile discovers that DL has taken Micah, fails to get help from Nathan, and then becomes Jessica. Micah demonstrates his own power (he makes an out-of-order phone work) and rings home - he tells Jessica where he is (the closing scene). DL and Micah briefly meet Hiro and Ando and save a woman from a burning car before heading off in separate directions. Zack has found the suicide tape only for Lyle to get his hands on it and now know that Claire can heal. Meanwhile, a new candidate for Sylar turns up - Ted Sprague - who can produce radiation. Matt connects to him by telling him his dying wife's thoughts. Also Matt discovers his former partner is having an affair with his wife.

Previous comments: Wonder if New Guy is the big explosion. And, yeah, mind-reading would suck. The other new power on the block is not a surprise.

In more detail: This is a Petrelli-heavy episode with a number of plot-relevant details and a promise of the missing painting (however, no Mr Bennett, no Mohinder and little Hiro or Ando). It shows the problem with Nathan's marriage (Heidi in a wheelchair) which was previously hinted at in Vegas and Peter saving his brother's reputation at the expense of himself (which I have mixed feelings about in terms of reality-check). Micah's power is shown, as is Ted's presence and power (big explosion anyone?). I enjoyed this one a lot, but the business with the painting confused me the first time around as I assumed when Nathan told Peter he wasn't getting the painting that I'd heard his conversation to Linderman wrong.

Character absences: Sylar, Mohinder, Bennet and Isaac.

Claire/Zack/Lyle: The interactions between Claire and Lyle show that there is some family feeling between them. Also, the tape has been returned to a location that Zack previously searched, but neither he nor Claire seem to realise the significance of this.

Hiro/Ando: Brief, but a moment of Hiro's power saving the day. Also noteworthy is Hiro's wry observation that he would have liked super-strength as well when he has to drag DL and the woman out of range.

Peter/Charles/Simone: Simone tells Peter that Charles woke before he died and talked about flying with Peter and how Peter promised he would save the world and Peter notes that they never had that conversation (except in his dream). The subject of "love" comes up (again) - here showing the close bond and agreement/understanding between Peter and Charles (father figure stuff), who both express love for each other, in contrast to the first episode and the link between Peter and his mother (a bond, but no agreement/understanding).

Nathan/Heidi/Peter: Heidi appears to have some sympathy for her brother-in-law (Nathan:"I'm not using my family for political gain" / Heidi:"Tell that to Peter") and is suspicious of his explanation for the blonde (although also appears to accept Nathan's assurances). Nathan's claim of guilt along with the comment that he had been driving making it clear that he was somehow responsible for the accident that put her in a wheelchair. One mildly amusing contrast with Collision is where Nathan tells Peter about Mr Bennett and the Haitian and Peter doesn't believe him (in contrast to Nathan not believing that Peter sent Mohinder after him).

Niki/DL/Micah: Micah's power looks interesting, as is the indication that he can tell the difference between Niki's two personalities, It's good to see DL get some hero action as well. However, the main point from the sequences involving these three is that Jessica is now in charge after Niki ran out of other options.

Matt/Ted: The marks they both have on their necks are interesting and is a potential second bond between them after Matt tells Ted his wife's words. Matt's already pretty confident that Ted isn't Sylar. The stuff with the affair sucks though... you wonder what Janice ever saw in the other guy he seems like total scum.
