Episode 3.

Previous summary: Interesting to see that Claire can be left in a "dead" state. And Niki’s mother-in-law is doing the parent denial thing. I’m impressed that Hiro managed to get some help - although because of the Niki connection, I guess it was always on the cards.

In more detail: Things that strike me now are the rape scene and consequent autopsy scene and the Sylar apartment scene. The apartment secret room covered in religious outpourings is very memorable (and contains scenes from the original pilot if you look closely, and are prompted to!).

Character absences: DL.

Claire/Zack/Mr Bennett: Very little Mr Bennett here but the one scene with Zack is nice; particularly when compared to the painting of it. The stuff with the quarterback is frightening, not least because the gentle lead-up (when he tells her she drinks chocolate milk and sketches mermaids) make his nastiness much more of a surprise. And the end scene was great Claire cut open on the autopsy table] - really vivid.

Hiro/Ando: In one swift episode, Hiro convinces Ando of his abilities (through saving the school girl), they fly to America and then rent The Car. This is the sort of plot speed that I love.

Peter/Nathan(/Angela): Nathan just got his own back for the last couple of episodes in what I still regard as one of the nastiest scenes in the whole first season - publicly announcing Peter's accident as a suicide attempt. I appreciate that punching someone in the face [as Peter does in response] is a huge cliche of American TV, but I felt the guy richly deserved it.

Peter/Simone: I think I liked this relationship more than some people did, although I will acknowledge that it's got far less in the way of character than Claire/Zack or Mohinder/Eden. I did think that the kick-off scenes here [outside the lift when Peter tells her he quit, the two toasts and the famous umbrella scene] were very true to both the characters though.

Isaac/Simone: One ended relationship [Isaac tells her to believe his ability or leave], nice picture in the rain though. I never really sympathised with Isaac and, watching again, I think it's really hard to, there's so little to latch onto.

Mohinder/Eden/Sylar: Lovely stuff in Sylar's apartment - probably the best scene of the whole episode. The religious room, as I said above, is a real shocker. Also the book showing the human body and the brain. Finally, it's another surprise when they come back and later find the whole apartment looted.

Niki/Micah: This was Just Dull. The scene with DL's mother is boring - all we learn is that the other bodies belong to DL's crew and that his mother thinks he's innocent. The latter is not a surprise to any audience (had she thought him guilty, this scene would have been more interesting!). Niki appears to turn up for the whole purpose of having that conversation (she arrives with Micah, then leaves with Micah at the end) - what's the point? Why not talk to her mate about it instead, surely she knew what reaction she would get from her mother-in-law? About the only interesting point in the whole thread here is the few seconds during which a cop(?) shows and tells them that Linderman wants to see them.

Matt/Audrey/Sylar: We get a look at what Sylar can do - a list apparently including telekinesis, surviving been shot several times in the chest and disappearing from a crime scene real fast. On the plus side, Matt joining the FBI stuff looks promising. The stuff between Matt and his wife is dull though.

The Haitian: Interesting silence. And did he make Matt pass out?

Yeah - much more impact once you've seen to the end of the season.

No, I think what I mean is, same impact, but more of an understanding that it fits.
