Heroes season 1 - Don't look back
May. 5th, 2009 06:18 pmIt's not going to be one a night usually, but here's episode 2.
Previous summary: Cool! It’s Greg Grundberg from Alias. This is going to be great. Oh, yeah - the rest. Good to see Peter alive, good to see the Hiro stuff play out with what I hope is an event to be prevented later in season one (rather than some later season).
In more detail: Nice continue - more twists and turns come out. I'll again do this by people threads as they whole thing is incredibly disjointed (and possibly will carry on this way until the end of the season).
Character absences: DL and Sylar.
Claire/Zack/Mr Bennett: I liked the exchange between father and daughter: "How was school? Very school-like. How was work? Very work-like." Mr Bennett having got hold of the tape now has Evil oozing from him. With the sudden appearance of the quarterback, along with Jackie's comment, Zack looks a lot less like a love interest. The fire rescue has played out surprisingly with Jackie claiming what Claire was terrified to take credit for. This is shaping up nicely and I'm looking forward to seeing Claire's real parents.
Hiro/Ando: This is really Hiro's episode. His escape with the magazine is great [having no American money to pay for it, having just teleported] and his reaction to Isaac's brainless body is just right. The gun though... why, why, WHY did he pick up the gun? No good ever comes from picking up the gun! Also - nice twist with it turning out to be time-travel. Plus the explosion foreshadowed by Isaac.
Peter/Nathan/Angela: More background stuff. Nice scene between Peter and Angela [when she tells him he was always her favourite] after her dismissive approach to love in the previous episode and her/Peter's comments about putting Nathan first. Nice first glimpse of Peter's power. When I watched this through again (ie. every time but the first), I felt really sorry for Nathan - he's given a couple of nasty scares in short order [both with Peter on a roof]. OK, he could have told the truth, but even so.
Isaac/Simone: More relationship disintegration. That's about it.
Mohinder/Eden/Sylar: A first sighting, or rather hearing, of Sylar - I love it. I liked Eden and I liked the scene between Mohinder and the exterminator. Particularly when Mohinder attacked him with the elephant.
Niki/Micah: OK, her power has gotten real creepy real fast [two goons chopped into pieces]. And all those bodies? In other news, however, red cars are great.
Matt: New character, love the actor. Good introduction to him and his power. Also to Sylar's stuff [his hearing Molly and seeing the effects of Sylar's powers on Molly's parents].
