I should have done these one at a time, but let’s have a brief bit on each of the first few; assuming I get the write-ups in the right places. Also - beware of spoilers.
Genesis
Nice start, hope this lives up to expectations. Love the comic strip. The ending had me hoping that Peter would survive. Also, I think that Niki was a shrewd move - a scary rather than a useful power. Hiro looks overpowered.
Don't Look Back
Cool! It’s Greg Grundberg from Alias. This is going to be great.
Oh, yeah - the rest. Good to see Peter alive, good to see the Hiro stuff play out with what I hope is an event to be prevented later in season one (rather than some later season).
One Giant Leap
Interesting to see that Claire can be left in a "dead" state. And Niki’s mother-in-law is doing the parent denial thing. I’m impressed that Hiro managed to get some help - although because of the Niki connection, I guess it was always on the cards.
Collision
I wonder how they’ll deal with the train scene - will it be cleverly explained with a link to Peter’s powers? That’ll be a key test of the consistency of the series.
Hiros
Nathan had to link to someone - amusing it's Hiro.
Better Halves
So Eden's a bad? Or is Claire's dad simply another faction? I'm starting to wish that they'd join the existing heroes up a bit more quickly. Also - interesting that Niki's other has a name of her own.
Nothing to Hide
Wonder if New Guy is the big explosion. And, yeah, mind-reading would suck. The other new power on the block is not a surprise.
Seven Minutes to Midnight
OK - how does he know she dies the next night? Well? Hope that gets explained somewhere down the line. The India stuff was interesting - I want to see more of it. And I wonder when Hiro will return. The tattoos are a nice touch (did the father faction do them?), as is the sudden power escalation.

Date: 2009-01-30 02:05 pm (UTC)I do not think it is a spoiler to say that Hiro (including future-Hiro) is not the most over-powered character. Or even the most over-powered good guy. The powers were not designed with game balance in mind.

I think there is a tendency throughout the series for people to assume that Isaac's predictions will come true shortly after the people involved in them first find out about them. Also a tendency for them to be right. More generally, it appears to go without saying that if you gain a piece of information, that information is almost always immediately plot-relevant.
In this case, IIRC the depicted scene is at Claire's school, at night. The number of such occasions must be limited, so it would seem reasonable to apply a precautionary principle. Bennet is in any case big on telling Claire not to do things because they're possibly dangerous. But I don't think his reasoning is ever explained.

True, but a pity.

This isn't one of his though (unless it's come through an odd route not specified by this episode or through examining the few pictures already gathered). It's something Bennet knows and says to Isaac. It's the thing that appears to make him insist that Isaac be given drugs so he can get on with predicting how to save Claire. That's why I was so curious about the source.

Unrealistic, but I guess it keeps the speed up.

a pity
I dunno - having a power at all is over-powered compared with not having one. If Hiro is allowed to be "better" than Ando or Bennet, I don't see why he shouldn't be allowed to be "better" than Nathan. Although granted, Nathan spent his points on contacts and Bennet on implausible competence.

Date: 2009-01-30 05:29 pm (UTC)OK, in that case I've mis-remembered too much to explain anything. I thought the painting of the cheerleader was there first, and Bennet reacted to it.
Bennet and his organisation do later turn out to have had some information not available to anyone else. But what I'm thinking about is not enough to make predictions on a day-to-day basis.
