Last night we watched American Beauty. It was OK. I suspect it suffered a great deal from the hype; I was always going to feel it wasn't quite up to the promise of its reviews. Its best features were really the cast - Both Spacey and Bentley were excellent. However it mostly seemed to be a movie designed to remind people to draw their curtains.

In other news, Ryan is not a well boy. He was sick last night and is currently asleep on a beanbag in the lounge. He never sleeps during the day.

You know, they don't have curtains in the US. I still find this hard to get my head around. You can just look right into all the houses. And the bloody sun wakes me up every morning.

Weird. I'm sure I saw some curtains when we were travelling down the West coast back in 1996. And, there were some pulled in the film - at a suitable moment. Sounds like that isn't the norm, though.

OK, I'll rephrase: they don't *usually* have curtains. Of the houses I've been in, only one has had curtains - that was the crazy neat-freak lady I stayed with for a while
