I guess the religion/climate thing is in my head as we spent the weekend in Cordoba which has lots of (old) Muslim architecture, and was f*cking freezing. Horseshoe arches, geometrically divided windows, palm trees, and us scurrying to restaurants with under-table heating.
I'm just a wuss when it comes to cold - warmer than the average has been here (but then I'm inside a lot more while it is the working week).
Madrid is definitely in winter now - lots of crisp cold days which are lovely in the sun with your back to a south facing wall and rather less so if there's much of a wind down from the mountains.
Many people are now thinking that the normal nativity animals (cattle, asses, lambs, camels) are insufficiently cool. Wolves coming to the manger to pay homage are being introduced to make Jesus look more badass.
