Aug. 14th, 2002 12:09 pmI have now been formally granted leave from work for another four years after my maternity leave ends. So I am off-work until November 28th 2006 on twin-raising duty. This, of course, means twin-raising duty and writing practice. Not that I have done much of the latter recently, but next month I will start revising my novel.
Dan and Kate came over on Saturday for the first time since we had the twins. Kate liked both babies - Ryan was energetic and trying to "go" whilst Bea was quiet and peaceful. I talked Final Fantasy with Dan and then play-by-email games; we discussed his City of Bronze and my Fallen Star games both of which are just starting nowish. We also generally chatted about news and people and briefly wondered how Mike and Jez's World Tour was going.
Sunday saw session three of my Athory (Swordsmaster) game. The game is progressing rather well - the politics are working out much closer to my original vision of them than is sometimes the case (I still have nightmares about Witchcraft). Also the next session is only a month away - rather than the usual 6-10 weeks so the players may even remember what has been happening in the meantime ! However I feel that, when Athory is over (although this is months, possibly years, away) I will give Swordsmaster a break and do something different. Certainly the Lathany/Athory world will be put on hold.
The twins seem healthy, happy and energetic. Everyone who has seen them recently says "They've got much bigger, haven't they ?". Can't say that I've noticed, but then I do see them every day. What I am noticing is how much I look forward to days and weekends without them...
