The Tarot series is, sadly, discontinued and therefore is not described on the BPAL site.
The Sun
A review1 I found reads: "This is a warm (not hot), happy, golden scent. It's a very proud, elegant scent. I can't make out any of the individual smells (I can't seem to do this very well with any of the Tarot oils), but it just smells warm and happy. This is the perfect fragrance for a rainy day, to bring a bit of sunshine into your life. It definitely smells like something somebody with a lot of monetary wealth would enjoy wearing, it's a very rich scent."
Another one says: "Heliotrope and sparkling citrus notes are what I get. No cinnamon or spice note for me, but I love this one.
It's light, it's orange-yellow, and the warmth of heliotrope (named for the sun it moves to follow across the sky each day) makes wearing this scent like sitting in a pool of sunlight on an early autumn day.
By the way, when I say it's light, I don't mean that it doesn't have "throw" or intensity. This is lush and complex, with distinct presence."
In the bottle: This is somewhat floral and light.
On the skin: Yes, rather faint floral tones. Having now read the reviews I assume it's heliotrope. However I would say it didn't have "throw or intensity".
An hour later: I can still smell it, so maybe it's got more intensity than I thought! Not bad, but not particularly memorable.
The Moon
A review1 I found reads: "Not surprisingly, this reminds me a lot of the Celestial's Luna. It's got the same jasmine scent, but not so much a sweet jasmine as a mysterious jasmine with an undercurrence of darkness. And it evokes a lot of the same feelings for me - intuition, midnight, dreams. It's an emotional scent. There's something mysterious about it. Very feminine, as is the Moon."
Another one says: "On first application, this smells like licorice. Not the cheap stuff, but the expensive kind you find at specialty shops. Almost immediately it melds into a honeysuckle/ magnolia scent. (maybe that's the jasmine. i'm still in the fledgling stage of my olfactory expertise)
It reminds me of the courtyard scene in Bram Stoker's Dracula. Just that wandering in the moonlight through the hedge maze..."
In the bottle: Incense!
On the skin:
bateleur says patchouli, and I agree. However the reviews suggest that it's jasmine. Either way, I love it.
An hour later: It's still there and I still love it. It's got tones of Desire. Definitely a keeper.
The Star
A review1 I found reads: "The scent is very difficult to describe and is as complex as the card itself. A hint of the warmth of coconut, an aquatic tanginess, perhaps ambergris. It’s so light though and oddly subtle. It doesn’t have the overpowering, sickening smell of the kind of cocounut you’d find in something like a tanning lotion. There’s another scent that reminds me of frankincense but I’m positive it isn’t. It’s like violin bow resin. This really is a beautiful, light, otherworldly scent. I feel I just can’t find the words to do it justice. It is the scent of the color soft white. Not a blinding white, but a gentle, ethereal glow. A nimbus. Wearing this perfume makes me feel like I, myself, am glowing softly."
Another one says: "Oh my, I smell absolutely delicious. When I smelled this in the bottle, I had a hard time picking out any notes but when I put it on it had a very strong candy scent, like lemon drops. Once it dried, it instantly reminded me of Key Lime Pie - but the shot not the desert. The coconut is there but, as the others said, it's a different coconut, very deep and, on me, it comes out more the longer I wear it. It makes the scent much more complex and keeps it from being too sticky sweet. This is going on my "buy a big bottle" list as I plan on wearing it all summer and would love to blend it into a lotion."
In the bottle: Somewhat sweet and citrusy.
On the skin: Sweet, citrus and sweet. Having now read the reviews I think I might be able to sniff some coconut.
An hour later: Still there and more coconutty. It's fine, but not really me.
1 Note: I tend to put BPAL on before I hunt reviews.
