Yesterday was another installment of [livejournal.com profile] chrestomancy's Final Fantasy Tribute Game.

The session began with our heroes in the catacombs beneath Alexandria as they made their way downwards to the tomb of the first king, Edward. This, of course, meant fighting the Catacombs Boss Fight, which turned out to be relatively easy with the help of Bahamat (who didn't like the cramped tunnels) and a limit break.

Having removed the evil monsters, Prince Raybrant spoke with the first king and gained the first Gaian piece of the necklace (which is believed to open a portal to Terra). From there, the group sneaked off out of a side passage and headed to the Wellspring where they saw Gallant/Nadir for the last time. S'reya gave her brother his sword in the lifestream and he dissolved leaving an aeon ring behind to summon Nadir.

The dejected group then returned to Alexandria for three days of preparing Raybrant (and his maybe consort Wraith) for the coronation. This turned into three days of Raybrant trying to persuade his advisors that it was perfectly reasonable to return to the quest at hand after he became ruler. However, in the relative calm, Sky and Kaloo finally had The Date. They went to the theatre to see a play (The Dragon And The Canary) and then on to a restaurant for a nice meal (bread and pheasant with wine) and a certain amount of Important Conversation.

The coronation came and went (involving basting the prince with oil as part of a ceremony at the Temple of the Seven Aeons), then the group scarpered off in the airship before anyone could object.

The next stop was Fenrey where peace was quickly and easily declared (involving a meal and a signed treaty), and then on to Assinia (who the pretender had blamed for "Raybrant's assassination"). Here things were a little more tricky as the messengers were put into custody for two days, but then finally allowed to meet the King who listened to their story. It seemed that everything was going to be OK, until the other king made it clear that he expected a match between Raybrant and one of his (five) daughters to be part of the deal.

Raybrant was excused from an immediate answer by being declared in mourning for his father, whilst the king had a fight with the various un-asked daughters:
- Daughter 1 objected and then left the palace with her lover
- Daughter 2 was a Raybrant-admirer and consequently sulking because he hadn't been offered her hand
- Daughter 3 (Maria) collapsed into a fit of giggles
- Daughter 4 (Lydia) asked daughter 5 to sort things out
- Daughter 5 (Nora) did sort things out and eventually asked Raybrant to leave the palace to stop her father matchmaking and promised she'd ensure that there was peace between Alexandria and Assinia.

The party reckoned that, if Raybrant does decide to marry one of the daughters, Nora would be his best bet.

There was also a fight down in the secret tunnels between our heroes and the villain Balmet, who had turned up with sidekicks The Turks Royston and Reynolds to steal the Leviathan. S'reya summoned Nadir who - fittingly - killed Balmet. That left our unarmed party (the king had insisted on weapons being left outside the palace - which was more or less fine as there were two mages, two unarmed combat experts and a thief) facing the duo before Nora arrived and summoned the water god herself to remove them from the palace.

So with the last of the Big Bads gone, we're probably into the last few sessions.
