Well, the weekend was spent playing Bridge, watching 24 and moving the twins out of our room.

24 was a lot of fun. I was impressed that they could follow the real-time aspect as well as they did, although there were a few places where they fudged it. These fudges mainly were that Jack's car journeys were usually rather quicker than anyone else's.

I enjoyed trying to guess who the second mole was - and got it right (although I was starting to find my guess implausible). However there were a couple of major flaws (or in the case of the key card, perhaps I missed it).

The first flaw was that the keycard, considered so vital for the first few episodes, disappeared completely. I know that Jack took it; but he never seemed to get rid of it - so why did he not return it to Milo when he got back to HQ after rescuing Kim and Terri ? After all, Milo never finished with it and they would still need any information from it.

The second flaw was the final murder. I assume that the producers (or perhaps I should say writers) did not want to go with a happy ending as most programmes end that way. However, their unhappy ending felt very forced. After all - mole number 2 was deliberately running and had gone into a different part of the building to do the file deletion. So how could Terri find this mole - when she barely knew the layout of HQ (we last see her searching the toilets, so it is clear that she is searching, not following) ? And... why was she so intent on searching ? As soon as she moved into a different part of the building, surely she would feel unsafe (even if not from the mole) following the hit on the safehouse ?

Despite these minor whinges 24 was the best TV series I have seen in a long time; but I'm trying to forget about the amnesia plot line (so to speak)...

The Bridge was a lot of fun; although Dom ([livejournal.com profile] bateleur) has already commented, so I'll refrain (although I'm not sure I agree that his example was a good sacrifice - as game wasn't on).

The twins now have their own room and seem happy enough. Apart from Ryan's teething moods, that is. More importantly - Dom and I can now sleep much better without them snuffling around their cot all the time (or was that Ems ?). The downside is that I still have a lot of clearing up to do, and a wardrobe to heavily prune.

The worst thing to happen, happened yesterday and was the collapse of the Playstation 2. It died during Final Fantasy X and now seems unable to play certain PS2 games. So Dom has contacted Sony to ask for a replacement. At least that will force me to get back to my writing (much neglected whilst I take a break from editing Gifting - the working title for my book). Plus, I now have final Fallen Star preparations to make before Sunday's start.

Yesterday also marked the first bank holiday since 1991 which has not been a holiday for me (and Dom, having taken the previous week as leave, had forgotten about it). Admittedly, I never made much of the August break anyway apart from as a day off. I always preferred Xmas and Easter because both included more actual bank holidays (so less leave for me to take). The August day was always appreciated though - filling in the gap between the Queen's Official Birthday (which civil servants receive as leave - the day after the Whitsun Monday) and Christmas. Once again, I felt strange not being at work (or, perhaps I should say, not being not at work).

Oh - and it's Chris Fox's birthday today, so I sent him an email...
