I've already raised this on GameFaqs, but I thought I'd duplicate it in case any one here had any further useful ideas.

I installed the game and patch 1.2 (official). Didn't run.

I installed Direct X 9.0c (the thing on the disc) overwriting X 10 (which was on the machine). The game now runs, but the drop down menus have no writing in them (but can be clicked on).

I located and downloaded patch 1.9 (unofficial) from GameSpot and, on running it (ie. WinZip), it turned out to be corrupted in two places.

Someone on GameFaqs pointed me to a working (!) version of 1.9 which I managed to run on WinZip without trouble. However Bloodlines still crashes; it gets as far as the "loading" screen, then complains that it's loading files in the wrong order (one of them was parent file "scurrying").

Anyone able to help?

I should add I've uninstalled and reinstalled again after all that - namely game, X9.0c and then patch 1.9 - just in case. Same (final) problem occurs.

This may be a "suggestion too stupid to be worth mentioning" but check to see if you have the UK patch. I seem to remember there being a US and UK English version?

I played it ages ago, and the patch was only up to 1.2 back then. It was perfectly stable, though.

I haven't come across that distinction, but I'll go take a look.

Nope, doesn't seem to be a issue with this game (although I have seen it for other games).
