Potty Training Humour

Post-lunch, I change Ryan's bot. I've just finished this (cry-accompanied) process when Bea announces that she wants the potty. After a small discussion she nominates the potty in the lounge. She duly fills it and I take it to the bathroom and empty it.

I come back into the lounge to find Ryan, pull-up and trousers around his ankles, on the potty-less potty (so to speak). Actually using it. Meaning, of course, that he's weeing all over the carpet and also that the wee has reached his trousers (but the nappy wasn't touched).

I'm very good about this. I smile, and praise him and find him new trousers which I put on over his shoes (thus limiting the annoyance factor). And he's pleased that I'm pleased. Finally I get to swear under my breath as I go into the kitchen and retrieve cloth and disinfectant.

And all this on the day the water mains burst and tap water is not a certainty.

Let this be a learning experience. Never attempt to cover two beebs with one potty.

We have two potties. I feel you're underestimating the power of desire when it comes to the other twin's potty.

Solution: Take the whole potty with you to the bathroom [*].

Despite the wee carpet it does sound like he is picking up the idea quite quickly. Is he doing better or worse than Bea at this stage?

Worse; but it's harder to judge because he doesn't really talk about it. So you don't get the same "why didn't you use the potty?" explanation.
