Matching Sunglasses

lathanyI mowed the back jungle lawn this morning. It made me feel virtuous and gave me a blister. When my parents arrived later, bearing the twins, I got my father to have a look around at the whole garden and suggest some gardening that would make the place look better using not too much work, new secateurs and a load of council "garden rubbish" bags. Actually doing it will be the hard part, but I currently feel motivated. At least motivated enough to ring the council tomorrow morning and credit card for some bags.
The offspring arrived bearing the customary supply of new things that the grandparents buy for them. New clothes (two sets of t-shirts), new pencils (shiny multicoloured ones with rubbers), new flags (Thomas and Percy), new hairslides (Bea only) and sunglasses. Bea got pink sunglasses and Ryan got blue ones. They were both very attached to them and Ryan's currently got his upstairs in bed. My parents stopped over for coffee, lunch and Martin'n'Frances stories (photos to be emailed) before I whisked the twins off to the afternoon birthday party at the softplay centre.
On the one hand, a children's birthday party is a tough thing to begin with when returning to toddlering. On the other hand, it tired them out nicely for bed. They enjoyed themselves and ate much cake. Additionally, I found it much more restful than previous parties for no discernible reason (ie. it's the same format as a their first one).
Oh and, according to reviews, the latest Star Wars film is supposed to be less cr*p than the previous two.

Date: 2005-05-16 08:50 am (UTC)It's nice that you have grandparents able to supply a steady stream of toys and clothing. But oh dear, blue and pink colour-coding for the twins? That's a bit antiquated, isn't it? Green and purple, that's the choice of the future. ;)

Date: 2005-05-16 08:54 am (UTC)They do it across the warmer half of the year. You have to buy the bags specially from them, but if it goes in those bags then they will take it.
Ours used to but, alas, no longer do - which totally sucks when you don't drive.

I'll try to persuade them and Bea ("purple is my favourite colour") will help.
