The twins are due back this morning, having been parked in Harston since Easter Monday.

We dropped them off on our way back from Center Parcs. Specifically, we arrived mid morning and then had a birthday lunch with my parents (we all sang "Happy Birthday" to my mother and ate her chocolate hedgehog birthday cake). Then we came on home and spent the evening making the most of the absence of twins. This included eating chocolate eggs (none had come away with us - it's the first Easter where I haven't had chocolate egg before Monday), catching up on LJ (which was unsurprisingly quiet), tidying away toys and watching Firefly (borrowed from my mother).

Tuesday saw [livejournal.com profile] bateleur return to work whilst I did a few little jobs (paying off a credit card bill, sending off photographs, the handwashing) and then alternately wrote book four and played (finished) Baldur's Gate : Throne of Bhaal (Druid main character, Minsc, Jaheria, Imoen, Anomen and Nalia) which I found (unsurprisingly) easier than previously. In part because I've finally figured out that Jaheria can wear non-druid armour. The evening involved 24 (which I'd irritatingly managed to tape with the Telewest menu over the bottom of the screen) and more Firefly.

Wednesday itself was my thirty-fifth. There were cards and roses and kids books from Amazon. When I was little I saw thirty-five as being "half-way". When I worked in infant mortality I planned to have my kids by thirty-five (a milestone I wish I'd hit in a different way). Now it seems really young still. Giving it some thought (whilst still sober) I decided that thirty-five is a fine age to be. I spent it doing more chocolate eating, more writing, more LJ browsing and some kids book reading. Also my mother rang and put both twins on the phone. They each sang "Happy Birthday"; Bea used the normal words but Ryan made a few creative replacements. For the evening, making the most of the twinlessness, we became mobile and went over to see [livejournal.com profile] frax and [livejournal.com profile] cardinalsin. It being my birthday, we decided to go out for a meal at [livejournal.com profile] chrestomancy and TheHattedOne's restaurant (called Yun Kim - an oriental "fusion" restaurant). There was duck and honey chicken and many other wonderful dishes. Plus I shared a decent bottle of rosé with [livejournal.com profile] cardinalsin. Afterwards there was chocolate-marsala cake which was very fine indeed (poll-tickers take note!).

Today I'm still feeling full and happy. However, I'll have to move away from the computer at some point as there is lunch to be bought and a house to make twin-safe again.

Happy Birthday!

At least you know it's still standing!

And Happy Birthday to you.
