Term ended on Friday. The duo charged out of playgroup armed with chocolate eggs, Easter cards, Easter cakes, sweets (it was the birthday of the other twins) and a painting (by Bea). It took a while to get them to relinquish their armfuls (except the sweets), put them in their coats, open their sweets and then load them up into the pushchair. However, I managed to get them home eventually.

Speech Therapy
There's still no news on the speech therapy front. Or, for that matter, about the hearing test.

Playgroup
This week we were told that the St Dunstan's playgroup would be closing in the summer. This is something of a shock as it has been going for years - many of the parents spent their own toddler years there. It's also a bit of a problem because nursery tends not to start until 2-4 weeks after the school term (so late September/early October) and, therefore, I won't be able to take the twins to playgroup at the start of the autumn term (which is the usual procedure and many parents go up to five mornings at that time). Additionally, there are some indications that it's shutting because the organisers are finding the kids more and more difficult. This year, in particular, they've had a large number of bullies and problem children and that's a real shame.

Parent and Toddler groups
Both groups also finished this week (again, for Easter). The Wednesday one finished with an egg hunt and the Thursday one with a fancy dress party. As a particular Nice Thing, Jo and I exchanged telephone numbers (she's the mother with the other set of twins). I probably won't contact her, because we're away for Easter (and the twins are away for a few days after we return), but it bodes well for the summer holidays - we've already talked about meeting up over them.

Nursery
We should hear about nursery places for next year by the 18th May. This is, I understand, shortly followed by home visits so that the nursery staff can see the parents and children interacting in their home environment. Apparently the week before this visit is also known as Cleaning Week.

Potty Training
Since lunchtime on Friday, I've been attempting to potty train Bea. This has met with mixed success - mostly she's going in the potty, but I've still had to wash the majority of her trousers and pants both nights. On top of that, between reminding her every fifteen minutes, putting her on two times out of three (of times being asked if she wants it - of which she'll use it half the time) and dealing with her jealous sibling (jealous of the attention rather than of the potty), I'm finding it hard work both mentally and physically (and [livejournal.com profile] bateleur is too). This morning all my muscles ached when I made myself crawl out of bed.

Roleplaying

ICESP
One character nearly finished, two more half-way there and the fourth one to go. An April start still looks likely, although we'll see. I'm looking forward to running; I'm (sad git!) really keen on my own background.

Eleventh Hour
Does anyone have a Warhammer 40K book they'd be prepared to lend me? [livejournal.com profile] bateleur's one has disappeared and, whilst he knows the background backwards, my knowledge is more Dune/Spacehulk/previous games based. We're going to be changing bits of it, but I'd still like to know what we're changing it from!

The Wheel
I need to design a new character for this. Particularly with a session approaching soonish. And I hear that [livejournal.com profile] secondhand_rick is going to guest star (and, thus, meet Emily and the duo).

Patchwork Universe
March is the month between Beta and the Real Thing. I'm waiting for the GMs to get back to me about Dr Jewel and my proposed changes for Burial Village.

Writing
Book four is still going well. However, the current lack of quiet time means that it's going more slowly (about twenty-one thousand words in total now). I'm hoping to do more in the couple of twinless days we'll have after Easter.

Holiday
We're going away to CenterParcs for Easter with [livejournal.com profile] bateleur's family. They're paying for the accommodation (and we'll have a fight over who pays for the entertainments!). It should be fun, although I'm a little apprehensive to be going with his family (who I get on well with, but have never been on holiday with before). The twins are signed up for a soft play session and a music for toddlers session. We're signed up for a meal and I've got a relaxation session booked. When we come back we're dropping the twins at my parents house for a couple of days (and we'll have Mum's birthday lunch as well) before they bring them back to us.

Eggs
The twins have got chocolate button eggs from playgroup and we've all been bought Thorntons eggs by my parents. Doubtless [livejournal.com profile] bateleur's parents will make egg purchases as well so, for once, I don't think we'll be choosing them for ourselves (there'd be too much chocolate egg in the house!).

Now, back to the potty training.

I have a very battered (and effectively loose-leaf) copy that you're welcome to borrow if you don't get a better offer. Or if you do for that matter.

How soon do you need it?

That's very kind of you.

The next Wheel session would be fine - if that's OK?

Not a problem.

Assuming I'm at home to Captain Memory of course1. An email reminder the day before might be a wise investment.

[1] - I'm never at home to Captain... what was I writing again?

OK - I can do that! When do you want it back by?

No hurry, if you're using it.
