Last night I finished Stravaganza : City of Stars. I enjoyed it muchly and it's my first new book of the year. It's tricky to give much of a review because it's the second of a trilogy, but I'll give it a try.
I really enjoyed the first book (set in a magical alternative history of sixteenth century Italy twined with current day England) and it was good to meet all the characters again. I was particularly interested in seeing them develop as they moved through new territory (the City of Stars). However, I also liked the new protagonist (un-confident, boyish-looking Georgia) and found her part of the story - in both worlds - compelling. My main criticisms were that the two protagonists (from this book and the previous one) were mighty quick to trust members of the enemy family and that it introduced a lot of characters very fast (whilst also relying on the reader to remember the characters from the previous book).
I would recommend the book; but it definitely isn't stand alone. Anyone wishing to borrow this (and the first book) let me know.
