Before I could get jealous of
venta's one, I got my own.
The Mother and Toddler group birthday party went well. And, thank god, that's the end of having to take in cake, food, candles and the end of panicking over whether I've taken enough or too much or all unhealthy stuff, etc...
My photos arrived back this morning. There were some nice ones of
bateleur and my weekend away at the start of October (cows on the road!) and a rather fine silhouette of Beatrice on a tall climbing frame. Sadly, however, the rest of them (mainly Bea and Ryan's first third birthday party) are a bit rubbish (red eye, blurring, naff picture composition). However I've finished a second film (wall to wall birthday celebrations) so I'll send that off and see if anything better returns.
In other news, I'm continuing to conquer ancient China and I have to say I love playing Sun Ce just based on the intro movie sequence for him (standing back-to-back with his strategist, about to be killed when the rest of him family arrive and save him with troops and sarcasm). It doesn't quite match my enjoyment of Final Fantasy VII's "leaving the Shinra Building" FMV but then, what would?!

Date: 2004-12-02 03:34 pm (UTC)I suspect from the overall picture on my calendar that it's going to be a fairly biblical advent for me - so the likelihood of winged lions (or indeed any other kind, except possibly one which lies with lambs) is small.
Despite the camels, weird trees and square-topped houses of the overall picture (it's a crib scene), there are some worryingly non-Judean details. As well as a full complement of shepherds, kings, cow and donkey there seem to be in attendance also a puzzled tabby cat, a chirpy rough collie, and a rather sad-looking fox. Not to mention a most unlikely coloured cockerel strutting about on the stable roof.
Except the token dark-skinned hands of a kneeling king, every character is white Caucasian (natch), and even the cow displays a worrying quantity of Jersey in her ancestry. One of the shepherds has thoughtfully brought a Davy lamp. What a jolly, happy and cheerfully coloured place that stable was, to be sure :)
