My life.

They're bigger, noisier and about to be three.

Beatrice has effectively caught up on all her milestones and is talking and moving like an almost-three year old should. She's not potty trained yet (this is normal for twins - the Twinsclub recommends starting at three), but I plan to try again over Christmas.

Ryan is behind, but I'm slightly less concerned than I was. One of the other mothers once worked with autistic children and promises me that he isn't. He's still not putting words together much and his potty training won't happen for a while (perhaps Easter). However, he's started to catch up a bit now I've put more effort into working with him on the speaking.

They're both doing well at playgroup (Tuesdays & Fridays) and get on fine at Mother and Toddler groups (Wednesday & Thursday), but I'm finding them hard work and I'm looking forward to my next break (which, fortunately, is soon).

Patchwork Universe is back and so are most of its players. I'm currently flying around the Temple of the Birds, about to relocate a couple of old friends and a Cardinal. I'm really enjoying it; not least because I'm roleplaying with a couple of people I've never met in real life (Henry/Dr. Odom and Justin/Father Michael) who are both great roleplayers and thoroughly polite, clued-up and rational OOC. If anyone out there enjoyed web-based roleplaying and is looking for a game, I recommend PU and it is open to new players.

The Wheel has begun and is also going well (see the webpage for some background). It's contained some spectacular events (eg. a volcano in London) and I've particularly enjoyed meeting other people's PCs (special mention to Edie [livejournal.com profile] bluedevi - the woman who is uninterested in current events and has the sort of attic that children's authors love). It's full of plot and I'm trying to get to the bottom of it all. There's another session this weekend and, no doubt, there should be some more with guest stars before Xmas.

I'm still working on my own game; the successor to Swordsmaster. It's going to be set in the modern world (in East Anglia) and will probably involve a fair number of character stats; including some Copas Team ones, some Postcards ones and some Gold Team ones. With luck I'll be able to start running (or preluding - I've yet to decide) in the New Year.

Yes, we're still planning to move next year. However, in the meantime, I want to do stuff to the house. Like painting bits of it. [livejournal.com profile] secretrebel suggested sticking to neutral colours (eg. beige) because of the approaching sale and I think she's got a point. I'm also trying to get rid of some of our unwanted possessions. Namely the outgrown baby equipment (in the unlikely event anyone out there want it - steriliser, baby carrier, playpen, bouncing chair - please let me know). I doubt that the house is going ever look less than overcrowded, but guests who notice the home improvements (assuming I do carry out some the week after next) will be on my "loveliest people" list.

November is NaNoWriMo month and, whilst I'm not interested in writing a fifty-thousand word novel from scratch, I've set myself a target of getting twenty-thousand words of my current book written in a bid to finish it early in the New Year. As my going-back-to-work is now a plan for autumn of next year I want to finish Empty-handed so that I can get a fourth book in before I return.

Lastly, I am missing [livejournal.com profile] chrestomancy and TheHattedOne muchly.

I believe the traditional inoffensive colour is 'Magnolia'.

I need to decorate my house in the other direction - I want to do cool stuff involving strange colours and stencils. But first I need to sort the electrics and get the annexe plastered, so this may take some time...

How much can your annex drink?

Surely it's already legless?

Magnolia has a daring pinky-purple tinge. I recommend 'Oatmeal' or 'Parchment'.

I reckon we want something with a slight orangey/brown hue to it, since we have a dark 'mahogany' wooden strip around the wall halfway up which we don't want to have to do anything with.

This also probably means two colours of paint, one slightly darker and more saturated than the other.

Magnolia for the hall, methinks.

Ryan is DEFINITELY not autistic. He's cuddly (autistic children usually stiffen when you hold them), and I have never seen him engage in a single autistic-type behavior. I do think he's like austistic children in a single respect, in that he's sensitive to stimuli and can be easily overstimulated.

It's completely natural to worry, but I'm telling ya there's not a thing wrong with Ryan. So what if he's not doing things he's "supposed" to be doing yet. He's a freethinker. He takes after his parents.

in other news: good luck with the painting!
