Weekend Virtue
May. 24th, 2004 11:30 amMowing the grass may be a boring job, but I walked away feeling very virtuous at having accomplished it (I trimmed the edges and everything!) and, as well as my glow of self-satisfaction, I gained a nice, flat lawn.
Getting out and about has become much more difficult now that Ryan is horribly infectious, and incredibly spotty. Our pretty boy now looks like some sort of plaguey goblin and that's just in the areas that other people can see. Consequently visits to Tesco can now only happen when I leave him at home. So Saturday morning I took the opportunity to leave
bateleur with the kids (well, OK, with his Magic game on the grounds that he would occasionally check on the kids) and buy things for the next twenty-four hours to cover his time out on
dr_bob's stage do.
After his departure I pootled around on the computer (including writing a story review), chatted to
frax on the telephone and then brought toddlers down for their afternoon rampage. Bea was obviously getting bored with being stuck at home whilst Ryan was rather subdued (although fortunately not upset or angry). So I put them on the swings for a while for a bit of variety.
After they went to bed I enjoyed the Mansfield Park film in peace and quiet (fun in its own right, but they don't stick to the book) and then some Final Fantasy V. Ems was delighted to come in and find a lap to curl up on (for once!).
Sunday started with the lawn, continued with a cream tea brunch (if that isn't a contradiction in itself - I've wanted a cream tea since BaCon) and then settled into a comfortable afternoon of writing, reading (Maxie's Demon - which is OK, follows on from Cloud Castles, but not really recommended unless you're a die-hard Michael Scott Rohan fan) and twinage. The evening brought more Final Fantasy V along with an excellent G&T (which
bateleur made for me) and finished with an early night so that I could face a week of being stuck in with TheSpottyOne and LittleMissTrouble.
A note for Monde players : The signs are that Ryan will not be infectious by the weekend.
