At some point I'm going to produce an actual life update rather than game write-ups and reviews. But not right now.

The session opened in Chir Shrine. Having just received the estate which formerly belonged to Lord Curtis (the traitor) Heleth ([livejournal.com profile] venta) and Lady Bryanna ([livejournal.com profile] quisalan) carried out a tour of the holdings taking young Gref ([livejournal.com profile] bateleur) with them. Before they departed, Lady Bryanna told Narimon (High Priest of Chir Shrine) that arrangements between the estates and the Offices could continue as before.

They toured :

* The main estate - a two storey (OK, three storeys with the servants attic) house with a small walled garden. There they met Jennivere, the new Captain of the Guard (formerly the second-in-command); Naland, the new Steward (formerly an assistant to Curtis' steward) and Jilmai the elderly housekeeper. Bryanna arranged for each of the three to take on an assistant (her maid Elena, in the case of the housekeeper) and gave orders for a small bonus for all staff. They also discovered two statues made of silver (one of a Kry, one of a human) in the master bedroom which were marked with a map of the Kerris Isles.

* Four large farms outside the city - Three seemed genuine suppliers of grain, meat and dairy products whilst the other had its very own poison supply (and was deserted).

* A warehouse and small market house in the outer city - Both were run down as no-one had lived in the outer city for years (but the Duchess Louise has now issued an edict requesting any property deeds in the outer city be presented to the priests).

* A warehouse, a market house and a meeting house in the middle city - The first two were not a surprise, the last was. The meeting house was run by a young, attractive and intelligent woman named Narelle who explained that the house had a second, more secret, entrance through the basement into the house in the street behind it which Lord Curtis also owned. Additionally, she provided a list of all the meetings she could remember Curtis holding there. Top of the list was one Lord Wranley of Nalor Clearing (brother of Lord Sulthew of the Living Dock) who had met with the Lord during the previous autumn.

After completing the tour, Bryanna and Gref returned to the palace (in Gref's case for the enjoyment of his first bath) whilst Heleth arranged for the burning of (most of) the poisons.

In the meantime, Lord Roland ([livejournal.com profile] ao_lai) began Blade training. The first part of which was to learn to fight with a main gauche in his left hand. After pasting his first opponent (CL 16), his second proved slightly trickier (CL 20), but ultimately still inferior.

Taronus spent most of his day reading (about the Path of the Family) and Tengath ([livejournal.com profile] chrestomancy) spent his recovering from an hangover. However, both were interrupted at regular intervals.

The Duchess summoned the Lathanians (Roland and Taronus) to see the troop movements. Valentin had returned to the recently-captured Loritath (formerly belonging to the Dry Duchy) as Fulton had retreated back into Arc territory. Sarabella took her portion of the army to Ghalkeep - close to the border of the Masked Duchy. Meanwhile the King's Rogue Stones had begun a march towards Varitor Stones on the middle of the Masked Duchy coastline.

Tengath, finally starting to recover from the last couple of days went out into the city and discovered that Louise had issued the request concerning the outer city dwellings, that the empathy mages were trying to "heal" the site of the battle and that the population were trying to return to normal life.

In his absence there were two messengers.

The first was addressed to Commander Heleth and was a plea for Leonides' help from Keeper Herris.

The second was marked Talesin and brought Bryanna and Roland to the Offices. There they were informed (by Priestess Rose) that the Royal Jewels had been stolen and that Elias had disappeared. They were told to visit Priestess Raetrin in Carnival to find out more about what had happened.

The upshot of all this was that the party decided that it needed to travel to both Carnival and Leonides' island as soon as possible. Preparations were made to depart the following morning.

Worried about the time required to reach the Snake, and concerned that the presence of the Lirrisorn might make it impossible, Heleth decided to revisit the cave network underneath the throne room. She discovered a map in the "Chir Shrine" room which she used (after, amazingly, making a focus test) to teleport to Leonides' island. Testing the walls in the underground Letizia chamber she realised that the return journey was also possible. She informed both the party and Duchess Louise of this, and new plans were made.

The following morning, the entire party teleported to Leonides island. There they gathered the twenty-one mages together (under their temporary leader, Charison) and Taronus explained the need to work together to "mend" the Snake before the Lirrisorn sunk the remaining islands. The mages needed little encouragement and began to look through the library for methods to use. The nineteen empathy mages concentrated on empathy magic books - most notably the path book from Irilika's Tower (collected by Lord Roland) and a book about Lady Morna of Star Castle. The infinity mage researched gate magic and the dance mage researched history.

Heleth spoke with the Ordiriss (Ral and Chath). They also agreed to help, in particular they planned to contact the Lirrisorn to see if they could gather any clues about why the attacks had begun. Heleth also told them of Leonides' death and they decided to spend the night in mourning.

By the end of the day, two interesting facts had been unearthed. The first was that the Lirrisorn told the Ordiriss that the attacks had occurred because of a law that the humans had broken (possibly after the Lirrisorn arranged for them to break it). The second was that there had been Lirrisorn attacks during the last years of the Kingdom, but they had stopped with the death of the last King.

Perhaps the party's only solution was to kill the King ?

Writing these things directly after the session is much easier.
