Nasty Splinter Risk

A day of little tasks.
Visitors to our house may remember that we have a wooden toilet seat which has a long crack in it. I've been meaning to do something about it for some time and, on Monday, finally got around to it. I ordered a replacement with optimistic hopes of it arriving and being fitted by me before the weekend.
The new seat arrived, surprisingly enough, as scheduled (perhaps toilet seats aren't an Xmas thing). It then took
bateleur half an hour with a chisel to remove the bolts fixing the previous seat to the toilet. However, he managed it and I was, finally, able to fit the new seat in place. The instructions were legible and it seems to work. So no longer is there a risk of getting a splinter in a delicate place.
Also this morning, our new green box arrived. The previous one had disappeared on a day of high winds. It might have blown away, but we reckon it was taken by someone who had lost their own box (mainly 'cos I'd fixed it down rather successfully). So, after
bateleur had taken Beatrice for a ride in the replacement; I filled it up with glass, cardboard, diet coke cans and an old yellow pages. It's now sitting outside making me feel environment friendly.
Plus I sent off my final four Christmas cards and a request to join the Tesco toddlers club.
Now on with some actual writing.
