The End of the Hearing Test Saga

lathanyIt was Beatrice's hearing test today. The one she was supposed to have at ten months. However, first she was tested too early (due to the whole "really being three months younger than she is"), then she caught a cold and had blocked ears and finally we missed an appointment due to me double booking with the physiotherapist.
She was booked in for 2pm on Wednesday 24th September. The "Wednesday" bit was me being clever -![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
bateleur and hence the family car were at home. The "2pm" bit was me being stupid - it was in the middle of the twins midday nap.
When Beatrice was woken up, she looked unhappy. She was then strapped into the car and she howled. She stopped when the car started moving and stayed stopped until we reached the hearing clinic. Then I took her in, stepped into the lift, the doors closed and she howled again. When we reached the waiting room I plugged her with milk which shut her up. But when she finished the bottle (now in the actual hearing room) she burst into tears again. Daddy was sent for and managed to get her to stop crying and co-operate with most of the tests. But at the end of the first section she broke down again. Then I took her back and persuaded her to co-operated (well, not to actually fight against) with the eardrum measuring machine.
The two testers decided that they had done enough. She had passed all the other parts of the test on the previous occasion and so could be considered an overall pass. She and Ryan will have to go back when they reach three, but that is - fortunately - over a year away.
Beatrice continued to cry as we went back into the lift, back into the car, but again quietened when the engine started. We brought her home and took her straight back to bed. That was at three o'clock. If she doesn't wake up of her own accord then I'll get her for tea at five. Ryan, by contrast, only cried a couple of times. But then, he's never needed as much sleep as she has.
So just the physiotherapist left.
