Ryan and Bea went to the hospital for their check-up. They will be six months old tomorrow (although 3 months adjusted age), so it was a milestone for us.

Ryan
Weight - 6.285kg (13lb 13.5oz) on the 50th centile
Length - 60.5cm just under the 50th centile
Head circumference - 42cm on the 75th centile

Ryan passed all his development milestone tests with flying colours (ie. following objects, lifting his head and shoulders, etc.). The doctor was very impressed with him, particularly as he was three months premature.

Beatrice
Weight - 5.450kg (12lb 0oz) on the 25th centile
Length - 58.2cm on the 25th centile
Head circumference - 43.5cm on the 99.6th centile (!)

Bea passed most of her development milestone tests, but failed on two. She can't lift her head (although, as the doctor admitted, that could well be due to the head/body weight ratio) and she doesn't like bringing her hands together (although, again, she has short arms and therefore it is more of a stretch for her than for Ryan). We talked for a long time about her earlier problems and consequently the doctor has asked us to bring her in for a brain scan and a heart scan. Also she wants us to bring her along to a physiotherapy clinic in a couple of months time, just to be on the safe side.

There's probably nothing wrong with her, but I'm still a little worried about it.

In the meantime, Ryan is to go on to solids (scary thought). Bea will join him soon.

*hugs*

I'm sure it'll all be fine and it's good that the doctors are taking every precaution.

But having children must be scary so *hugs* and let me know if you guys need babysitters or anything ever

Michael

No fair, I wanted to volunteer for the babysitting!

Hope Bea's tests go well, once they're over you can stop worrying (and concentrate on the generalised anxiety common to all parents instead...)

Ryan quite plainly eats all the pies :)

Pies maybe, but not baby rice.

Sometimes he spits it out. Other times it looks like he's eaten a spoonful, but in fact he's just storing it up in his cheeks so he can spit out more at once.
