I like Fridays to be relaxed and a general wind-down after a busy week. Consequently, today is not a favourite. At the moment there is a carpenter in the kitchen replacing the floorboards. He arrived before eight and will finish about lunchtime. Then when he goes, I will just have time to vacuum up the worst of the mess before Bea's physiotherapist arrives.

On the plus side, the house problems should mostly be over by this evening. There will still be the whole "buying and fitting new kitchen tiles", sending the new invoices to the insurance company and we will have to decide whether the washing machine needs replacing (it has been playing up of late), but the floor was the big thing.

People-wise things are generally OK. The twins seem happy enough (except when Ryan sits on Bea's head). Ryan is talking a little (Mum-mum-mum) and Beatrice is crawling a little (to extend her stretch-reach). [livejournal.com profile] chrestomancy is recovering from his lurgy (although, sadly, dad appears to have caught it). And Exaulted - Dragon Blooded is happening this weekend. So we will have a lounge full of baby-loving roleplayers. To start with at least. By the end of the afternoon they may well be hippoed and snailed out of good humour.

The inevitable Buffy and Angel comments will be posted up sometime over the weekend. I have seen Selfless, but Slouching towards Bethlehem was videoed as the emptying of the kitchen took priority.

Well, I have had a fairly quiet time over the last few days. A certain amount of stressing about the house stuff (specifically worrying that something might go wrong on Friday) has led to little actual work from me (practically no story writing) and lots of Baldur's Gate II (Dom calls it "Bodling").

However, Wednesday brought a slight change to my baby-filled existence. I finally had an enjoyable pre-Christmas meal (yes, last Christmas - this is our fourth attempt) with a couple of work friends, Zia and David. The evening was spent discussing old work colleagues, the announcement of the Census results, Frasier, and AFC Wimbledon. The last led to me offering to come along to watch them play Feltham. Unfortunately, I have now discovered that the game clashes with the twin-disposal, so I might watch the Bedfont game instead.

Finally, after a stressful week, this evening should be peaceful and involve good food and wine. Additionally, Saturday might bring us almost back to normal. I have hopes !
