On Friday I travelled out to Oxford Street and spent money on myself. I enjoyed it and now have a couple of new things in my wardrobe (a long brown skirt with a lace hem and a long white blouse being the new favourites). My parents came over and looked after the twins - so they were very happy. [livejournal.com profile] bateleur came home with the news that a new important, secret FastRam deadline had appeared on Monday. This meant he would be working all weekend. Never mind. I had my new Baldur's Gate II - with Throne of Bhaal character to amuse me.

I waited for Help to start with some trepidation. [livejournal.com profile] unknownid had claimed it was her favourite episode of the season to date and so it was either going to be great or very disappointing. Fortunately it was the former. Cassie Newton was nicely played and the timing of it tied in well with Willow's first visit to Tara's grave. The Buffy-Xander pairing from early seasons was back on form and the opening scene also fitted with the episode theme. Anya was absent (as a mainly comic character this was appropriate) and I think that this is only the second time that a "named titles sequence" character has not been in an episode (the other one was Angel missing from Inca Mummy Girl).

The House Always Wins was a good piece of plot which effectively reclaimed Lorne and re-introduced Cordy back into LA. However, the singing piece was on the long side (we wondered if they had been short on written script) and the Wesley-Lilah scene was gratuitous. I felt it was only there to remind us that Wesley exists and because they rarely leave out "named title sequence" characters (see above). I currently have the feeling that the Angel producers are trying to move all their characters around (like chess pieces) and these first few episodes are trying to rearrange the gang for the start of the season plot.

This weekend also resulted in the finalisation of an important new event in my life - the removal of the twins. [livejournal.com profile] bateleur and I have persuaded the grandparents to have them for a whole week in March. This is partly as a test run for May (when we go to Brockwood) and partly to give me a long break. It is going to be wonderful. (Yes - the snail has been rebatteried and "Old Macdonald" etc. are playing as I type).
