MMR, Work and Cambridge

The twins had their MMR jab on Tuesday morning. Both were very well-behaved (Beatrice smiled as the needle went in). Rob and Georgia came to visit in the afternoon and generally approved of MMR, and of the twins (despite Ryan playing up).
We discussed roleplaying possibilities for next year along with moving plans. I have a number of one-offs to prepare starting in January. Rob is quite keen to do some more Swordsmaster as Alain (his Lathany mage), but as my current campaign in Swordsmaster I am keener to run something different ! Locationwise, they are probably going to move nearby next summer (starting by moving in with Georgia's father). Georgia brought Sorry! along so we played a game of it. It has been years since I last saw it. Martin and I used to own it; although I think Mum gave to it our younger cousins some years ago.
Yesterday was my office's Christmas meal. People who leave during the year get invited back for the meal. I was invited back (despite having left over a year ago) because I missed the previous one due to suddenly giving birth and then being in hospital for several weeks.
It was very good to be back and see people. I heard much of the latest office news, both official and social. Nothing seems to actually change in the civil service, but things go round in cycles. When I joined, eleven years ago, the proportion of senior managers was being reduced. Now it is being increased again. Doubtless by the time I return from maternity leave it will be reduced again.
It was also good to see Adrian (and discover that the research programme is *still* being considered by the Bank), to see Matt (I sat next to him at dinner and discussed Xmas plans and LotR), to see Damon and the others dress up as Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (Because Damon made an exceptionally tall Snow White, the Dwarves looked rather more believable than they would otherwise) and to see my boss outside of a meeting (he was delighted to see me - which was cheering).
Today we take the family (minus the Ems) back to Cambridge. I have a load of packing to do, not to mention vacuuming. Both twins seem exceptionally lively, so I'm hoping they will have exhausted themselves by the time we put them in the car. Then we will be home to babysitting grandparents for a week or so. It will be a chance to see The Two Towers, have meals out and generally make the most of some free time.
Happy Christmas Everyone !
